like you haven't excluded Goalies, I am going to add some of them whom IMO are the greatest footballers from their respective countries.

El Salvador: Jorge "El Mágico" González

Paraguay: José Luis Chilavert (GK)
Chile: Iván Zamorano

"If" they were independent... ;)

Being european i have better opinion only for the players of my years who i have watched so i will refer to them.

Argentina:Gabriel Batistuta...A scoring machine,he drived Fiorentina to Champions League and in ths high positions of Campionato.
Bolivia:Marco Etchevery...after him,Bolivia became again a weak team and no way ready for a World Cup.
Brazil:Ronaldo...just world class.I could put Roberto Carlos in this place too,as he is the most stable defender in the last years.
Chile:Ivan Zamorano...Za-Sa over 20 goals in WC'98 Quals,what else?An real leader too.
Colombia:Oscar Cordoba or Carlos Valderama.
Ecuador:Alex Aguinaga...The brain of Ecuador NT for a decade. He played in a WC when he was already too old,so he didn't make sense.
Paraguay:Jose Luis Chilavert...The flag of this team...
Peru:Nolberto Solano...one of the first Peruvians that made sense in Europe. He refused his club to play for Peru too.
Uruguay:Alvaro Recoba...he didn't make much the NT till now but he is a techique player with a great flair,
Venezuela:Juan Arango...One of the very few good players that Venezuela has produced.

Continuing the thought of Tucidides Surinam could have an exceptional NT if Holland didn't steal players like Seedorf,Davids,Hasselbaink.

Panama: Julio Cesar Dely Valdes
Trinidad & Tobago: Dwight Yorke
Costa Rica: Hernan Medford
Mexico: Chuatemoch Blanco
USA: ?? no idea...i think they are all average players and same to my eyes.
Canada: Tomaz Radjinski
El Salvador: Raul Diaz Arce (he is the only serious Salvadoran i saw cause when their NT team played with Greece, their players weren't something important.
Honduras: Carlos Alberto Pavon

and some crap nations have their own legends...
Bermuda: Shawn Goater (a former bomber in Premier League)
Grenada: Jason Roberts (almost the same...)

I know Dwight Pezzarossi frfom Guatemala cause of his Italian heritage. But i don't know if he's the best.

In Usa, probably Wynalda, but Ramos was their best player in wc90. He was born in Uruguay ;)

In Venezuela, i got to add Gilbero Angelucci ( good keeper with loads of experience)

What about Nicaragua? don't know anything about them.

Jamaica- John Barnes (born there)

Well...maybe, but that's the only Equadorian player I know!

hehehe, BTW when and where you've heard Jorge Campos being called "Poco Loco"
I never heard of it, here he is better known as "el brody" Campos :)

We could learn about a Nicaraguan only if he could play in a big championship (as their owns is crap) or NT to take part in a major competition...other than the Gold Cup of course.

About Ivan Kaviedes,
he may be good to girls as he,along with Aguinaga and Obregon, are the only whites in Ecuador's NT.The fact is that Kaviedes has lost his place in the NT in the last years. This is a bit strange,as he was the top goalscorer in the world in 1997 i think, with about 40 goals in a year.He did a great Copa America 99,but after leaving Perugia and went to Celta and Valladolid he played as a regular only in my CM game.:D

Now he plays for Barcelona of Ecuador.

PS-A player i liked a lot is Costa Rican Paulo Wanchope but after his injury he is lost...:(

What about Nicaragua? don't know anything about them.
In Nicaragua football is not popular at all. Over there baseball and box are the most followed sports, pitchers like Dennis Martínez or box champs like Alexis Argüello are world legends on their respective disciplines... but almost nobody cares about soccer.

what do you mean with that statement, Kostas? r u saying that white ppl is prettier or sth?
I highly doubt it, I prefer "morenas" (dark women) all the way ;)
BTW Aguinaga is the "whitest" of all of them and the "uglier" as well :pp

With the word "morena" i guess you mean "latin coloured" women, not black not white, and i like it too.:)

In your question,i didn't express any opinion of mine but i made a comment on Arianna's statement.Cause as i have seen till now,the majority of european girls (greek ones at least) have a preference on white or latin men and not on black ones. And the rest players of Ecuador are (with some exceptions) black, not latin.:)

BTW,Aguinaga is not the best example of white ppl:D

for peru

teodoro "lolo" fernandez was chosen as perus best player of the last century

i think cubillas was number 2 i cant really remember

I read it in German magazine just before the '98 World Cup...

Kaviedes is in no way the best player in Ecuador now or ever, though he may be one of the better looking ones;) at least to European eyes.

This is my list:

Argentina: Diego Maradona
Bolivia: Marco Echeverry
Brasil: Pele
Chile: Ivan Zamorano
Colombia: Carlos Valderrama
Costa Rica: Hernan Medford
Ecuador: Alberto Spencer
El Salvador: Jorge Gonzales
Guatemala: Alfredo Castellanos
Honduras: Ramon Madariaga
Mexico: Hugo Sanchez
Panama: Rommel Fernandez
Paraguay: Jose Luis Chilavert
Peru: Teofilo Cubillas
Uruguay: Enzo Francescoli
Venezuela: Rafael Dudamel

i think elias figueroa is considered chiles best ever player

No, when I said "morena" I was thinking on every dark skinned women, from brown to black. I find black girls beautiful as well.
WTF means "latin coloured"??? As far as I know there isn't such a thing as "latin color". I am "latino" and I am "whiter" than a lot of europeans; sth that is not relevant at all to me, I wouldn't mind to be a bit more "coloured"

BTW Why Aguinaga is not a good example of "white" ppl?

more picks:
Venezuela: Rafael Dudamel
Colombia: Carlos Valderrama or Willington Ortiz, not sure.
Ecuador: Alberto Spencer
Argentina: Could be other than Diego? ;)
Brasil: Could be other than Pelé? ;)
Uruguay: Enzo Francescoli
Perú: Teófilo Cubillas Arizaga

Yes Elias Figueroa is certainly a legendary defender and probably the best ever Chilean player before the advent of Zamorano. Another great Chilean player was Carlos Cazely.

The comment about Aguinaga was just for fun!:D

With the "latin coloured" i mean not black but not white as milk like north europeans. You find this skin in Latin America but you find it in Mediteranea as well.:)

And some more on the topic,i just read about two legends of some other really crap nations but one of them has a great record:
US Virgin Islands: 46-year-old MacDonald Taylor is a historical footballer not only for his country but for the whole football.Last month he broke the record of Cameroonian Roger Milla as he played for his NT in a FIFA World Cup Quals game in that age!!He is one of the fittest men of his age for sure...

Montserat: We learned that nation during the WC 2002 as they played a "final" against Bhutan to clear who is the worst NT in the world!!This game was played the same day as the real final between Brazil & Germany.Their legend is Wayne Dyer.He took this recognition because he is the scorer of the one and only goal of his NT in official matches(WC'02 Q Trinidad-Montserat 6-1 agg)!!!!Wayne Dyer is a semi-professional in England today.

:)
