FIFA PROVES INTER RIGHT, AGAIN
Wednesday, 03 March 2004 17:07:41
MILAN - At its London meeting on 29 February, the Fifa Executive Committee rejected Real Madrid's appeal regarding the dispute over a part of the contract which saw Ronaldo transfer to the Spanish club on 31 August 2002.

The Executive Committee has reaffirmed that the decision made by the Players' Status Committee remains valid, meaning Real Madrid are required to pay within thirty days the sum established and still not deposited, the two successive instalments and five percent interest.

FIFA order Real to cough up Wednesday 3 March, 2004

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

FIFA have once again decided in favour of Inter in the on-going row with Real Madrid and the Spaniards have 30 days to hand over ÂŁ19m.

The verdict on Real’s appeal was passed during the meeting on Feb 29, but has only now been officially confirmed.

On August 31 2002 Ronaldo moved to Madrid in exchange for ÂŁ23m plus either a further ÂŁ7m in January or Santiago Solari.

As the Argentine winger failed to agree terms with Inter, the club expected the ÂŁ7m cash instead.

However, Madrid maintained that the Nerazzurri had offered a purposefully low wage deal in order to force Solari to give up the move.

The matter stretched on for some months and went to FIFA arbitration, but now Real Madrid’s appeal has also failed.

The Liga leaders have 30 days in order to hand over the ÂŁ7m, plus the remaining two installments for Ronaldo's original transfer fee and five per cent interest for a total of ÂŁ19m.

If they are unable to comply, then Inter could theoretically take a player worth that amount instead.

There are already reports that the player in question will be Luis Figo, as Ronaldo has this week extended his contract until 2008 so a return to the San Siro is highly unlikely.

So what if Real can't pay? Who do we take from them? How do u assess who is worth 19 mil? This is very confusing. Do we want Figo?

Figo is getting old isnt he? Inter should look at acquiring a decent defensive or offensive midfielder. I do not know who Real have in those positions but if a player can not be acquired then we should take the money and find one that can really help us.

Perhaps Inter should look at selling Lamouchi and letting Almeyda go and acquiring Simone Perotta from Chievo Verona to give the club another defensive midfield option. Does anyone know if his good form continues?

As for an offensive midfielder, I can not think of any viable players who would be worth the purchase.

Acutally VDM and JZ had nice stuff going in the latter part of today's match. I think we are well equipped on the right. The left is the problem.

No no no, no new player. If Madrid can´t pay Inter must go to court to get Real Madrid officially announced bankrupt. If it will be so then f-ck up Madrid we won´t see them again, but probably the Spanish bastard king will cough up the money.

Figo = ÂŁ19m.? Yes, in my ass! :ass:

:D

Madrid should be taken to the European Court, and sued for damages. They owe us money simple as that. Why cant these idiots pay us, and yet they buy Beckham and plan the transfers of Totti and Owen

And Figo is only worth ÂŁ11 million or even less because of his age. If anything Real should be forced to pay up, or give us Raul.

This is an Infamita:mad:

They don't really have a player that we want, even if they do they'll probably just pay the money. 19M is a good sum and we can buy a decent sweeper (CD) for that money.

Just get the $$ from Real.

There are no players in Real which we need.

Their star players -

Figo - age....
Zidane - let s not talk about him
Ronaldo - same as above
Raul -
Beckham - well.....haha......we don't need him

Just get the cash !! $$$$$$ and get players like Emerson/Makelele,.... ??

MAGICA INTER OK said:
THe left side wont become a problem no more for Inter as Coco will enter the squad soon....i think he is the only player this year to play well on that side..and he made 2 appearances
:D

He's come and gone many many times.....

This time, he did have surgery but .....

Previously, he didn't use to have surgery and just do the long procedure stuffs......but now he had surgery which might help him from successive many injuries all the time.....
??

Still, who knows...

we shud get someone like Maxwell and keep coco as well. Loan out Pasquale;)

i'd take casilias...he is still very young...toldo won't be with us forever...casilias is good enough to take his place...

how about carlos?

you guys are too funny, Real will finally pay up.

to think Iker or any player would want to leave:howler:

Both Carlos and Ronaldo talk shyte. Both players stated that they would like to return to Inter and both players, after receiving new contracts from Real stated that they never wanted to leave that club.

For that simple reason, I would not want them at Inter. They essentially raised a few doubts regarding their staying on at Real only to put a little pressure on their club to get a new and extended deal. Both players are tyrants. Their keeper can get stuffed also. Inter should hang on to Toldo and keep to the trend of having Italian keepers.

As much as I do not like to admit this, if it comes down to a Champions League final between Juventus or Milan v Real Madrid, I will give my backing to either club, but not Real.

In any event, it is unlikely that any Real player would want to change from a successful club full of star players to a club that has been starved of success and is presently rock-bottom.

Aren't Real constanlty linked with Buffon? If they get him then i'd love to get Casillias. To say the truth this guy is young (22 yrs.) and is talented. Real have an average defence but he comes to the rescue when called.

EC probe Real Madrid property deal

Wednesday, March 3, 2004

BRUSSELS, March 3 (Reuters) - The European Commission and Spanish government are looking into a property deal reported to have netted Real Madrid €480 million (£319million), the EU executive said on Wednesday.

The club's sale of its training grounds to the City of Madrid in 2001 wiped out its debts and enabled it to buy world class players such as David Beckham.

A European Commission spokesman said the City of Madrid had re-zoned the training grounds for development, vastly increasing its value, and then purchased the site.

If the city paid more than a private purchaser would have, it would amount to a hidden state subsidy and Real Madrid would have to pay back the government, the Commission said.

'We believe there may be certain state aid elements attached to this,' Tilman Lueder told a daily news briefing. 'We believe the City of Madrid may have overpaid.'

The sale of the training ground to the Madrid city council and regional government for office buildings erased Real Madrid debts of &euro270million and permitted the team to buy new players and build a training complex on the city's outskirts.

The Spanish government sent the Commission a 30-page explanation, answering questions from the EU executive and explaining that it, too, wanted answers, Lueder said.

Spanish newspapers reported that the deal in April 2001 netted Real Madrid €480million.

The government's explanation may put an end to the matter, or it may raise serious doubts and spur a formal investigation Lueder said.

The Commission is also looking into other cases of possible state subsidies to football teams, particularly in Italy.

++++++++++++++++++++++++

This is why I loathe Real Madrid. While Fiorentina were declared bankrupt and Roma, Lazio and Parma are going through hard times (wished they were all relegated to make Inter's task a little more easier) Real Madrid get government backing which saved the club from financial hardship and allows them to purchase their galacticos (cant stand them!).

I think we have over taken Man Utd as the most hated club:D
