First of all, we have to face Belorussia on Saturday, then we will face our top opponent on wednesday!

Probable team against Beorussia...

-------------------- Cech

Grygera --- Bolf --- Ujfalusi --- Jankulovski

Poborsky -------- Galasek ------ Smicer
---------- Rosicky
-------------------------- Nedved

--------------------- Koller

Belorussia - Czech rep. 1-3 (Nedvìd (what a free kick), Baroš, Smicer)

Netherlands - Austria 3-1

...still same number of points. The next match will be decisive.

Jankulovski yellow carded, he will miss next match. :(

I saw both matches (Netherlands - Austria, Belorussia - Czech) and I have to say that both team had problems. We will see

Grygera will move to left, Martin Jiránek (Reggina) will play on the right. Jiránek is very solid in defending but really not that good in attacking. But against "Tulips"? Maybe it is better to stay back ;)

What a pity that Rosicky is in bad form now. Where is his talent. He sleeps this year... :(

If you are interested, this team played against Belorussia:

--------------- Cech
Grygera - Bolf - Ujfalusi - Jankulovski
--------------- Tyce
Poborsky - Rosicky - Nedved
----------- Koller ---- Baros

But Tyce (playing instead of Galasek who will be fit against Netherland) was terrible and was sub by Smicer.

----------------- Cech
Grygera - Bolf - Ujfalusi - Jankulovski
Poborsky - Rosicky - Nedved - Smicer
------------- Koller - Baros

----------------------
Probable against Netherland:

---------------- Cech
Jiránek - Bolf - Ujfalusi - Grygera
---------------- Galásek
Poborský - Rosický - Nedvìd - Smicer (or Baros as a second forward)
--------------- Koller

I think I would prefer you to start with Baros, since then you won't have secret weapon on the bench anymore in case it's not going your way. Although on the other hand it means you'll play with your best 11 (minus Jankulovski) from the start already. Don't mind a little mistake from Tomas or Zdenek, but I prefer to see another Czech making it if it has to happen.

Congratulations for The Czech Republic!! see You In Portugal

FT 3-1 Jan Koller [pen.],Karel Poborsky and Milan Baros-VDV

This was The Line-up

-------------------Cech-------------------------------

----Jiranek-----Bolf--Ujfalusi-------Grygera-------

--------------------Galasek------------------------

------Poborsky---Rosicky-----------Nedved------

---------------------Smicer-----------------------

---------------------Koller-----------------------

It all started well as Davids [Who had an early booking after his tackle on Nedved] pushed Poborsky in The Penalty Box, He was given His marching orders, So Holland will play for More Than 78 minutes with 10 players! Koller Made no Mistake from The Spot Kick..1-0

Dick Advocat took Off RW Marc Overmars and In Came Paul Bosvelt to slot into Davids's role in deep midfield to partner Marc Van Bommel. Holland did not threaten Cech's goal except from Van Bommel's Reflex shot and it was easily saved By Petr. Rosicky tried to fool Van Der Sar yet his right footed shot Went High and wide.

Grygera caught an Injury and in Came #17 Hopffshamn [Spell?], to play as LB. Then Pavel Nedved Piles Pressure on Van Bommel, Nedved passes to The Unmarked Poborsky who superbly Lobs Van Der Sar from 17 yards Out..WHAT A GOAL.

Advocat took out Frank De Boer and PSV Defender Andrei Ooijer came in for Him. Smicer should have made it 3-0 but His effort was saved By Edwin VDS To a Corner Kick. The Czech Team Controled the Tempo of The game, Bruckner and His Players were happy with The result, so The game looked slow at some stages.

Van Der Vaart Made it 2-1 as His shot from Outside The area Hits Jiranek's Left Knee and is deflected to Goal.

Then, Ruud Van Nistelrooy who did absolutely nothing all night was taken Off, He clearly did not like Being subbed, Pierre Van Hooijdonk came in for Him.

Right before Holland's Lone Goal, Milan Baros came in for Rosicky. Also Stepan Vachousek came in For Smicer.

Koller should have sealed off the match but his right footed shot went wide, Also Baros slipped when he should have crossed from Inside The Area. Poborsky's Left footed weak shot was easily saved By Van Der Sar.

The 3rd goal came as Van Der Sar Went forward and left his goal, Somehow It was cleared and Milan Baros made use of it as He Ran and then Managed to beat VDS And finished with a chip over Van Bommel who tried to clear off the Line but he slipped.

Well deserved Result..

It is 21-year old defender of Sparta Prague called Tomas Hübschman. Best talent in czech league if we count only defenders.

I am satisfied after we had lost to Belgium two years ago and missed Japan.

Our midfield was like this:

----------------- Galásek -------------
Poborský - Rosický - Nedvìd - Smicer

Vladimir Smicer is not a trequartista but winger/forward.

Man of the match was IMO Karel poborský, the ex-laziale.

Well congrats guys. I really love the squad you have (not only Koller :strong: ) and therefore wasn't 100% happy when we couldn't go to the WC together.

BTW Poborsky's goal: delious

For Me Czech rep. is the one of favorites to win European Championship.
Congratulations and Good luck in Portugal.

As an Oranje-fan I will congratulate Czech with a great record in this group. I think the disaster for us was done in Rotterdam in the 1-1 draw, a game we should have won seen especially from the first half, but the Czechs are very good indeed and in my opinion is one of the favourites to win the tournament.

May be we meet again in the European final, it is not impossible.

Hopefully for us we won't draw Spain, I think both Spain and Holland should qualify easily if they don't draw each other. The other tricky opponent could be England/Turkey.

Czech roster for game against Austria (Oct 11th)

Oct 11th Czech Republic at Austria

A few players are getting a chance with the national team because of injuries and suspensions.

Goalkeepers: Jaromir Blazek (Sparta Praha), Petr Cech (Stade Rennes), Antonin Kinsky (Slovan Liberec)

Defenders: Rene Bolf (Banik Ostrava), Zdenek Grygera (Ajax Amsterdam), Miroslav Holenak (Slovan Liberec), Tomas Huebschman, Petr Johana (both Sparta Praha), Marek Jankulovski (Udinese Calcio), Martin Jiranek (Reggiana), Tomas Ujfalusi (Hamburg)

Midfielders: Tomas Galasek (Ajax Amsterdam), Pavel Nedved (Juventus), Karel Poborsky (Sparta Praha), Rudolf Skacel (Olympique Marseille), Vladimir Smicer (Liverpool), Roman Tyce (Mnichov 1860)

Strikers: Marek Heinz (Banik Ostrava), Vratislav Lokvenc (Kaiserslautern), Jiri Stajner (Hannover 96), Stepan Vachousek (Olympique Marseille)

I am happy to see a few Gambrinus Liga players in the squad. :) Good to see Heinz get another chance with the national team. He certainly deserves it! I was hoping Vaniak would get another shot, but after the goal he gave up against Slovakia I don't think he will play for the national team again.

Who will do you think will be the starting centraldefenders? And starting attackers? Will the formation be a more traditional 4-4-2 now that Rosicky is not in?

What do you think?

Btw, Gambrinus is a fine beer. :)

It's very hard to guess because Brükner said that he will give chances to new players but he can't play with 11 newcomers so there are hunderds of variations, I don't know. My prediction:

--------------------- Blazek ------------------
Jiranek --- Bolf -- Johana --- Jankulovski
Poborsky - Nedved - Galasek - Skacel
------------- Vachousek - Lokvenc ------

There usually play Bolf and Ujfalusi on CBs, but I guess Johana will be used as he plays pretty good for Sparta, Grygera will rest IMO (after injury), Vachousek and Skacel (young talents of L'OM) will play for sure. Smicer and Jankulovski won't also play IMO. But it is very hard to guess.

I'm angry about Lokvenc, he is so antitalented. I'd rather see there Libor Dosek of Brno or 2 small forwards.

You are our man Btw what's wrong with Staropramen?

My rating:
1. Pilsner-Urquell
2. Staropramen (But I used to hate it some time ago.)
3. Gambrinus (This beer is everywhere here.)

------------------------------
I would also love to see Marek Jankulovski as a forward or midfielder, not on LB :(

My favourite Czech beers:

1. Starobrno
2. Litovel
3. Krusovice
4. Radegast
5. Staropramen
6. Zubr

I live in a small town in Ontario and the Czech beer is rather limited. We get Radegast, Budvar, and Pilsner.

Back to football... :groan:

Any chance that this game will be available on Czech internet radio? Right now I am listening to Radio Krokodyl... :)
