The Arsenal players deserve severe fines and anyone with a bit of honesty about them can see that. Ronaldo and Giggs dont deserve anywhere near as bad as the arsenal players warrant. They just have to resort to things like that because half of europe has scored past them!

 A ban for a few matches would be right....some of the arsenalplayers behaved like animals!!! :yuck: Even our dog has more brain than Keown, Lehmann and Co.

Campbell plays down Arsenal antics

Sol Campbell has amazingly defended his Arsenal teammates' actions at Old Trafford last Sunday.

Six Highbury stars have been charged by the Football Association after the clash with Manchester United ended in controversy.

Ruud van Nistelrooy was jostled and taunted by Arsenal players after missing a late penalty in the 0-0 draw, which also saw Patrick Vieira sent off for striking out at the Dutchman.

Vieira, Martin Keown, Ashley Cole, Jens Lehmann, Ray Parlour and Lauren face a dozen FA charges while Arsene Wenger also came under fire over his post-match comments about van Nistelrooy.

Campbell, who missed the match following the death of his father, told the News of the World: "Certain things went on which stoked up the atmosphere even further and in the heat of the moment we reacted.

"That's an important word - reacted. We responded to what was going on out there and all I'll say is that Manchester United certainly played their part in what happened."

Arsenal have received a stunning 52 red cards during Wenger's seven-year reign, while they have also been criticised recently for diving to win penalties.

However, Campbell added: "We're not cheats, we're not yobs and we're not out of control.

"Do people really think we are a bunch of thugs who just go out to kick and scrap and fight and cheat our way to victory?"
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Er....Sol, yea!!!

And it just with that kinda attitude that ur team is fast becoming the most hated team in the land, and thats probably the only title the Arse r gonna get this season.

only ralph and keown deserve bans

the rest (inc giggs and ronaldo) can be fined, it means nothing to them anyway. besides a bit of push and shove goes on evry week. fa disiciplanary charges are very unnecessary

A comparison of incidents.

So let's see, Ralph is looking at a possible 8 game ban(2 games for each charge) and Keown is looking at possibly 4 games, while the rest will most likely just get fines. Now i don't seem to remember anyone getting hurt, apart from RVN's wounded pride, and a possible nose injury to whoever washed his shorts after the game due to the smell.

Now the week before this incident, Lucas Neill broke the leg of Jamie Carragher with a disgracefully high, two footed tackle and he's going to get off with 3 games.

In the same game, David Thompson threw a punch at Anthony Le Tallec, an elbow at Emile Heskey, commited at least 2 fouls worthy of red cards with horrendous lunging 2 footed tackles, his punishment?? a yellow card.

IMO there is a serious problem with the FA's disciplinary system. Handbags at 12 paces is severely punished, whereas reckless challenges leading to serious and career threatening injuries get off lightly.

agreed rule. keown and ralph can get a 1 or 2 game ban each at the VERY most.

the hypocrisy of the FA really pisses me off so much

did you catch the inter-udinese game? a few minor riots in that match as well (not to mention two disgraceful red cards)

final act!

The Football Association has handed bans to four of the five Arsenal players involved in the Old Trafford fracas.

The FA has also fined Arsenal ÂŁ175,000 for failing to control their players in the controversial goalless draw against Manchester United on 21 September.

Lauren, Martin Keown, Ashley Cole, Ray Parlour and Patrick Vieira had all pleaded guilty after being charged with a catalogue of offences by the FA in the aftermath of the game.

Vieira was sent-off for two yellow cards during the game while the other four were involved in the ugly scenes after the final whistle.

Lauren has received the most severe punishment and been suspended for four games as well as being fined ÂŁ40,000.

An FA statement read that Lauren was guilty of "violent behaviour in forcibly pushing Van Nistelrooy in the back following the final whistle, and for improper conduct in confronting van Nistelrooy after Patrick Vieira's sending-off and kicking out at Quinton Fortune following the penalty award."

Keown has been suspended for three games and been fined ÂŁ20,000 "for violent behaviour in his actions towards Ruud van Nistelrooy."

Vieira and Parlour will both miss one game each for their offences with the Frenchman picking up a ÂŁ20,000 fine and the English midfielder fined ÂŁ10,000.

Vieira's reprimand comes "for improper conduct in failing to leave the field of play following his sending-off".

Parlour was guilty "for his improper conduct in separate confrontations with Ruud van Nistelrooy and Gary Neville after the final whistle".

Cole has been warned as to his future conduct by the FA and fined ÂŁ10,000 for his part in the confrontation which saw him involved in an incident with Cristiano Ronaldo.

Manchester United's Ronaldo and Ryan Giggs have also been charged with improper conduct by the FA but they will contest their charges at a later date.

The Gunners keeper Jens Lehmann was also hit with a improper conduct charge which was later dropped.

Arsenal's fine was the second largest handed out to a club in English football history.

Arsenal's north London rivals Tottenham Hotspur were fined ÂŁ1.5m for financial irregularities in 1994.

The suspensions for the Highbury club's players will start on Monday, 17 November.

Lauren will miss the Premiership matches against Birmingham, Leicester, Fulham and the Carling Cup clash with Wolves.

Keown will miss the above games with the exception of the Leicester match.

Vieira and Parlour will serve their suspensions when Arsenal are at St Andrews on 22 November.

Arsenal now have 14 days to appeal.

And Lehmann had only only been in the country 2 months, and Parlour has a very good disciplinary record for a player of his type with such a long career. Keown has the odd blemish on his record, but given that he's been a pro for about 400 years his record is excellent. Nonsense by the FA
