Some comments from Rosenborg's coach, Åge Hareide:

"Deportivo is surely one of the worst opponents we could have drawn. We start with a home game, and then we have to give all. I think we got a chance of winning at home. Rosenborg has for example beated Real Madrid here in Trondheim before," Hareide says.

"Deportivo is a strong team with many class players. Luckily for us they now has sold their top scorer Roy Makaay to Bayern München," he added.

Former Rosenborg vs Deportivo games:

UEFA Cup 1st round 1994/95

13/9:
Rosenborg - Deportivo La Coruña 1-0
1-0 Karl-Petter Løken

28/9:
Deportivo La Coruña - Rosenborg 4-1 (after extra time)
1-0 Bebeto (81)
1-1 Harald Brattbakk (93)
2-1 Bebeto (98)
3-1 Donato (pen. 106)
4-1 Bebeto (115)

Aggregate: 4-2

Hopefully it will be as tight as this this time too! But this time we'll win! ;)

By the way, 4 of today's Rosenborg players played against you in 1994: Erik Hoftun, Ståle Stensaas, Harald Brattbakk and Roar Strand.

PS! Is it sure that the game at Riazor will be played Wednesday 27th August? Here in Norway romours says that Deportivo and Spanish TV maybe will move the game to Tuesday...

Of course, I think Deportivo is stronger than Rosenborg, but the matches will be very soon for Spanish teams. La Liga begins at the end of August, so the matches are in the middle of the pre-season for Spanish teams.

Some years ago, Malmo, another Scandinavian team, beated RCD Mallorca. And Mallorca was also superior to this team, in theory.

It's not an easy rival for the galegos. Rosenborg is very difficult to win in Norway, but for this time, the weather won't be a problem for Deportivo. But Rosenborg will have to face Spanish hot weather.

It was not Malmø from Sweden, but Molde from Norway, that beat out Mallorca in the Champions League qualification, and Molde is of course a much poorer team than Rosenborg. Rosenborg currently holds the record with qualifying 8 times in a row to the Champions League.
