The match isn't useless... the only reason that all these top tier teams are playing each other is because of the tour... these matches usually never happen in normal pre-season in Europe...

Also, the matched have alreadt almost all sold out... who can argue with that??? It gives us fans in North America a rare chance to see our teams in action... the clubs want to promote themselves in America. But I don't think it will work. The Americans are too forgetful when it comes to this sport, and I suspect only the already die-hard fans will benefit from this tour. I don't see them winning many extra fans form this tour...
I hadn't said the match is useless, i like these summer matches. But I can't understand why they go to the USA. I would have prefered an European tour, it wouldn't be so tiring. :)

How is it tiring??? One 7 hour flight there, and one flight back???

And all the cities that they are playing in are close to each other...

You guys get Barça in Europe all year long... NOW LET US HAVE SOME OF THE FUN!!!! ;)

But I can't understand why they go to the USA
Barca is going to USA mainly from marketing point of view, to gain new fans, this is some kind of promotion for club, USA are not yet dominated by any european club and there is still more free space in football market. Madrid is going to China I think and Liverpool, MU have been travelling to Far East to gain new fans.

Ok guys!! ;) I had heard Rijkaard said that he didn't like this tour, is it true or it was a dream? :D

And another thing... last year Barça went to Switzerland, where will they have their trainings apart the Usa and GB?

Since I am going to see Barcelona - Man U, I had a feeling I was going to see Ronaldinho, I just did not know what shirt he would be wearing.

Barcelona consider themselves the most supported European team in North America, and there are studies and polls to support this. Also worth considering is our agreement with the NFL (part of which was our buying of the Barcelona Dragons), this leads to huge marketing potential. The main part of the deal is both sides will promote the other in their country. And another part of the deal is Barca playing matches in the U.S. We will be benifiting financially from going here, and that's counting basic match fees and not merchandise income.

We should tour Japan sometime, since we've opened the first of several planned club shops there, it would be a good idea to go over there and show the Japanese fans who they are "supporting" (with their money, of course!)

VBI, if Barcelona consider themselves the most popular team in NA, they are mistaken.

Man U and the EPL are miles ahead of any Spanish team.

The tour will bring them good revenue and excellent exposure.

Probably not :( But its no certain yet.

Are you going?
I'm not decided yet. I should have off of work that week, but it'll still depend. It'll be an impulse trip if I do. It's by far the cheapest match to see in terms of travelling out East. I'll letcha know if I do.

AC Milan vs Barcelona @ RFK

Hey guys I was wondering if any of you are going to the game at RFK on the 30th. I was also wondering if there was anyway I could find out if they're flying to Dulles or National airport. If so what time, what day, etc. I'm not being stalkerish but I just wanted to see if I Could get an autograph or something. Thanks in advance!!
