LMAO. The blind ignorance people here have about the abilities of Bonnucci, Barzagli, Chiellini is amazing. They are mediocre defenders who play well in a back 3 set-up. Anyone who thinks otherwise is delusional and does not know calcio.
:)

I really don't know what to say to that. If you haven't noticed how good they've been over the last 2 years both individually and as part of the same defense, you've been living under a rock. A big one. And as pav said previously, they were equally as good when we were playing 4-3-3, but as Conte has said before he didn't want to leave out any of the three, and that's why he changed to a 3-man defense.

If you somehow think a back 3 suddenly makes mediocre defenders good then you're just as daft as your handle seems to suggest.

All I can say is LMAO. I didn't know anyone in the world thought could think that. I guess people can be deluded even in the most incredible ways.

Why is anyone wasting time on this 3CBsNOW mofo? :pp

Primo, Gazzetta says Insigne instead of Giacch, lets hope its true.

I've lost my interest in the national team. It seems dead. Without character and class. It's a dark and uninteresting time in Italian football. No transcendental players whatsoever. Boring boring Italy.

Damn, you got lucky, guys, and we missed too much (partly thanks to Buffon, of course).

I know it's September when Italy is traditionally terrible, but I certainly didn't expect to see italy create 2 chances in total at home against us.

Definitely an average time for us but I really don't think the formation helps. Think it's ok against teams we expect to defend against plenty if its a 3-4-2-1 but when hoping to be the team on offence need to go with 4-3-1-2 or 4-3-3 or even 4-4-2 or if a back 3 then 3-4-1-2.

3 points is nice but thanking Buffon for it isn't how it should be.

Against Czech I would play

Buffon; Bonucci, DDR, Chiellini; Maggio, Montolivo, Pirlo, Pasqual; Candreva; Balo, Insigne

Ask Insigne to play closer to box or just play El Sha or Osvaldo with Balo otherwise.

I completely agree with Deano. He is very astute. Unfortunately I think Prandelli has misguided faith in these CBs and it is going to get us knocked out in the world cup earlier than we should. We will probably get a replay of the Confed Cup match against Brazil, and Italy will be eliminated because of delusional 2 CB use.

Prandelli says 'extraordinary Buffon saved Italy'

All we are left with is praying Buffon saves us? What has happened to us!??!The defense is so leaky it's embarrassing. It's burned in my mind how Chiellini and Bonnuci got torn to shreds by Brazil in the confed cup in the 2 CB set-up. How can Italy expect to compete in the world cup if they continue to play that way?

I don't mind playing aggressive with only 2 CBs against weak competition. But when Italy steps up in competition (Brazil, Argentina, Spain) ... it is too risky for Italy to play with only 2 CBs. They cannot afford to concede many goals.
