Michael Owen. Hailed as Englands best striker.....yes i agree he HAS done things in the past that COULD merit that, but frankly, i feel his performance this season has been poor{although he has cored 4 in 2}.

When he scored his first against Man City this season, your English commentators, were making a buzz by sayin "He's back" etc, etc.

WHY ??

He scored one and they were now sayin hes back on form !

Its another typical English point of view, boasting of their players, AND thats why its so funny when it all comes down on your face !

no, no jealousy.

just makin an observation sayin Owen IS overrated.

like more than half the England team, i admit, Scotlad are sh*t, weve got a crappy manager.......i can take criticism.....cant you English ??

Like most players Owen has suffered badly at the start of this season. He's a natural goalscorer, he always gets into good positions to score. However this season its been his finishing that has let him down, thats usually down to confidence. Once strikers like Owen start scoring their confidence returns.

However I think after 1 game claiming someone has "turned the corner" maybe a bit rich. Although I see he popped up with the winner today too. So maybe he has got back on form!

Its funny how people who want to take a crack at us, always generalise by saying 'typical English point of view' yet, you'll be doing well to find that 'typical point of view' voiced by anyone on here. If you have something to offer other than opinion masquerading as fact, by all means contribute. I welcome debate on the England team:)

So what if he's having a poor start to this season? That suddenly makes him overrated?

Every football player goes through bad stages, and every footballer goes through good stages. A few bad games for Owen doesnt destroy what has already been a fantastic career.

Anyway ALL of the English players are over-rated or so say the jealous ones. :howler:

Well, i would say scoring regularly in Europe's probably best league since the age of 17 says a bit about the guy. Sounds like a typical bitter Scot 2 me

Every player goes through a bad spell, and that's what is happening with him now. As soon as he gets his confidence back and starts scoring goals he will silence all his temporary critics. Owen is top notch player!

To say Owen is over-rated is the biggest joke in the world...

All the best defenders and goalies in the world don't relish playing against him....

just ask Kahn and the german defence...

Yes we can when its merited. But saying Owen is over-rated could only come from a Scot. Every top European club would love to have him, he's got a proven goalscoring record at whichever level he plays, he makes World Class defenders and keepers look like amateurs. Over-rated defintately :)

Owen is good consistently when he got support ...he is no tall guy in the box for that all the time. Heskey was assigned more to support Owen like a 'post'.

When Diouf gets used to the style of play...he will be a good supplier to Owen.
