AC Milan are just days, possibly hours, away from completing the summer signing of Barcelona star Gianluca Zambrotta, according to Controcampo.

Speculation that Zambrotta is set for a return to Serie A with Milan is not a new topic, indeed the question on everyone’s lips is not if the transfer will be completed, but when.

The 31-year-old signed for Barcelona from Juventus following the Calciopoli crisis in the summer of 2006. He has not truly demonstrated his full potential in Catalonia, and along with his wife has become increasingly homesick.

Controcampo says that Milan officials have been in lengthy discussions with Zambrotta's agent, Beppe Bonetto, and virtually all details regarding the deal have been agreed upon.

An announcement is expected within a number of days, possibly even hours.
Zambrotta has also played for Como and Bari, and has starred 70 times for Italy, scoring twice.

He played at the European Championships of 2000 and 2004, and the World Cups of 2002 and 2006, the latter of which he has a winners medal from.

I think we'll see things done once Dani Alves' arrival at Barca is confirmed.
Right...Dani Alves almost close to Barca..Milan more need Alves than Barcellona IMO, but no money and goes to old Zambrotta

I didn't know Zambro is only 31. I thought he was more like 33. Makes a big difference. He could conceivably be our guy for the next 4 or 5 years, depending on whether he still had the game.

Alves is a risky move for Milan and however when Milan signed Contra,he was the best RB in Spain and we all know what happened.

Zambrotta is pretty nice move for us,it seems a deal done, considering Also Laudisa confirmed that he is blocked by Milan,31 years old and can play at highest level still 2-3 years. But he is not enough alone for solving our problems in side backs. we should add at least Antonini to him who had a very good campaign at Empoli.

By the way, considering Dani Alves last perfonmances with Sevilla,im happy for Zambrotta,Fenerbahce's Left winger gave a football lesson to Daniel Alves during their meetings. The same player was easily blocked by one of my favourite players called Essien.

Contra was an attacking fullback playing for a team (Milan circa 2001-2) that didn't know what to do with an attacking fullback. When he played as a lateral midfielder he did ok, but he was not a great wing type player. Perhaps now he would have been ok since we need attacking fullbacks who can track back.

Indeed one of our better players in those days. Stupid transfer out IMO. Was our Serginho on the right in another derby match 4-2.

Rather indirect comparison of alluding to that below. Contra wasnt anywhere close to what Dani Alves has been doing for years. His one hit wonder season with little Alaves isnt by any stretch any comparison material with a dominating RB like Dani.

His point was that signing Alves would be risky. He did not say Contra was as good as Alves is now.

He is directly comparing them there and using Contra as an argument to why Dani is a risk.

Basically that only means him and Contra are quite similar (Contra then best RB in Spain, Dani is now= Stay away from best RBs of Spain) which they are obviously not in anyway.

Dabdob, why do you bother keeping track?

Controcampo is a BS tv show on Mediaset which is very pro-Milan. They are on par with Tuttosport as far as reliability... = none. Just like Studio Sport. I like to see Studio Sport in the summer while lunch because it's good BS but in the end its only BS.
