Smiths, The: A good band that most people nowadays put in their top five without having even heard them since a lot of critics do that as well (also see Velvet Underground).

Velvet Underground
nah, not even near the comparisson, the velvet was really underground, was really a very strange band, on strange days...the smiths were/are very popular...the influence of Velvet is as vast as many times they even force themselves to be raw and limited.
John cale, Lou Reed, Nico? haha that is a trio. Venus in furs still hears today as new as almost 40 years ago.

the critics preferrerd main cult band in order to compare with nowadays muse. radiohead, etc is my bloody valentine

whats velvet underground got to do with it?

the smiths are one of those bands people relate to cause they are recent, other than that there nothing special.
