Whats your sporting highlight or lowlight of 2003?

just to jog your memory....is your highlight Hollands 6-0 win, Raymond Barneveld becoming darts world champion again, our ladies winning the EK hockey, Verkerk in the French open, Ajax in the CL, PSV winning the league ..............or was it Holland winning the Korfbal world cup? :howler: :D

mine definitely was Martin Verkerks run in the French open. Really made me proud. Unexpected too which makes it even better :) I don't expect him to ever repeat it again though, a real case of een eendagsvlieg, it seems

Footballing it was probably Feyenoords 1-0 win over Ajax. Other than that there wasn't much to cheer about for me clubwise

Lowlight was errgggg too many to name :howler: Feyenoord, Spurs
but one thing that saddened me most was Richard Krajicek retiring from tennis after injury. :( up the Kraaij :proud:

And Iban Mayo's and Haimar Zubeldia's great Tour de France.

Lowlight, no idea yet...

:D

How many races did he finish this season? maybe a move to Jordan (read that they were the only option, dunno if it'll happen) will do his career good since they have a better reputation imo. from what little I know about formula one.

I can only think of footballing stuff at the moments, coz leontien, inge, wennemars did well and all, but anyway

Highlight

The major relief that we're still going to Portugal, so 6-0 over the Scots :)

Lowlight

We still suck in the Champions League, for Ajax fans I guess it must be that they were good and sucked in the Champs League both in the same year  :howler:

sporting highlights:
Schumi´s 6th worldcup-title
Ulrich´s comeback at Tour de France
Thorpey at swimming worldcup
United & Juve crowned Champions again (with Ruud best Goalscorer in England)
Juve beating Real in CL-Semifinal
Italy, Oranje and England qualifying for Portugal

And, yes Wally Verkerks run in the French Open as well. I am not so interested in Tennis, but this was very unexpected and even I followed it then.....

lowlights:
german skijumpers at worldcup (hard landings) :(
Juve losing the CL final on penalties! :yuck:

This is about Dutch, preferably Dutch football highlights and lowlights.

If we have to name all the highlighst and lowlights of every sport than I can sit here for another hour, get the point?

and i have to add Barça beating inter 3-0 in the Camp Nou on feb, 18th & Espanyol at Montjuic on feb, 15th (my birthday!!:D ).. that includes a bit of dutch football;)
Lowlight: Ajax being defeated by brugge

Everyones entitled to their own opinions and since this is an international board, you'll get other preferences. ;) commence with your list if you wish
