This year the ramadan will be "held" between 29 June, Sunday – 29 July, Tuesday

I dont know much about this, but there are few players in this world cup who have muslim back round. Some names to mention:

Yaya Toure
Mesut Özil
Karim Benzema
Boateng

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Muslim_sportspersons#Football

How will this work out as they are supposed to be fasting during this period of time?

From what i understand Yaya Toure for instance takes this pretty srsly and i remember in the past some things about him fasting and other things mentioned like here:

Benzema goes and prays for an exception. He gets it every year or every two years when this shit goes on.

Yaya, what a dedicated warrior.

Cross out Ozil and Benzema from the list. They aren't devoted muslims, but Yahyah Touré...what a dedicated warrior.

Well, they are in travel; and in travel they can break the fast and make it up upon their return to country of residence.

I hope we get france in the final then :)
Yaya doesn't play for France though.

And Ribéry is out. Not sure if Nasri practices but he's not called up.

Maybe you'd prefer to play Bosnia? Is Dzeko religious? Dunno.

Playing Bosnia is dangerous, ask Adnan about Bosnians and Ramadan!

This should be merged with Karim benzema's thread in the Basement.

Maybe re titled: diet and self deprivation between religion and pseudoscience

I don't like these kinda comments. You can not judge a person like that. These is no point of making a debate between individual values like God vs. Nationality.

For instance, Mesut Özil chose not to fast in a gameday because he wanted to be at his best for his country. Is that a good thing or bad thing? I think it's just a personal choice. There is nothing you can criticize or debate about.
