Norway just beat the USA for the 17th time. This happened in a tournament in Guangzhou, China. In addition to Norway, USA and host nation China, also Germany is playing the 4 nation cup.

Unni Lehn scored after 6 minutes, to give Norway a 1-0 win, it was not undeserved, but Norwegian keeper Astrid Johannessen still had a good game. USA took charge in the second half, and a couple of shots was close to going in, one even hit the bar.

National team coach Åge Steen was tremendously happy about the result, and explained the win, with Norway's strong defencive lineup, and the incredible will to fight in the entire team.

I just read that Norway and the USA has met 32 times, so for Norway 17 wins is not bad at all.

Here is also an explanation of the goal: Trine Rønning crossed in from the right side, and Linda and Dagny just let the ball pass them on the first post, while Unni Lehn was waiting at the back of the goal, and could just tap the ball in behind the keeper.

Here is a picture of the celebrations:

Norway today beat China 3-0.

National team coach Åge Steen said that it was the best Norwegian national team match he had seen from A to Z. He was almost shocked at how easy and great the match was. The only ones more shocked were the Chinese, who were completely baffled after being outplayed at home.

Norway was leading 2-0 at half time after goals by Solveig Gulbrandsen after nine and sixteen minutes. A few minutes after halftime Anita Rapp made it three for Norway.

In the other match today the USA and Germany played a 0-0 draw.

Despite Solveig Gulbrandsen being on the scoring sheet again, Norway lost 3-1 to Germany. Luckily, we still won the tournament:

Even at a time when all the top national teams are still in a formative stage with their player rosters, this tournament showed how close the competition is at the top.

Only Brazil, the other member of the top five teams in the world, was missing from this elite tournament. These five are still the teams that the rest of the competition have to chase at international events.
