Will Fiorentina throw it away?

3 rounds left. But a semi with Rangers and possible final before last round of serie a matches. Add to that all 3 games are against relegation fighters, while milan last 2 rounds will be against teams who dont have anything to fight anymore, apart from a couple of italians who want to impress Donadoni.

Hm Napoli wil do everything possible to beat Milan i think and Udinese are fighting for UEFA cup spot.
It won't be easy that's for sure, Fiorentina's opponents have everything to play for since they are not mathematically safe from relegation (Parma is in the actual zone). Whereas Milan will be playing better teams, but their motivation won't be to the same level, although as Andrey said it's not a case of nothing to play for per se.

I think a lot will depend on the next round. If Milan win the derby and Viola stall away to Cagliari then Milan's chances increase dramatically, and then the pressure will transfer to Fiorentina side's. As of now, it's just straight up each have to win their remaining games to go through, so it's a dogfight to the finish.
Mathematically Udinese have a chance, but a lot of results need to go their ways, while viola still have it in their hands. But i just think that expecting viola to do the business against rangers, they will make it to the uefa cup final, for obvious reasons, bayern should be the other finalist. That final will be before last round of the serie a games, what ever happens will have an effect on that last game against Torino.
4. Fiorentina 60, 50-34

If that happens the 4th place will become ours to lose (if Fiorentina ties against Cagliari, and we win the derby, we'll be tied, but in direct encounters we beat them; if they lose, and we win, we pass to the 4th spot).

Both teams have a hard schedule, Milan cause we're facing teams that hate us and a team that is fighting for a european spot, while Fiorentina is facing relegation zone teams and have the UEFA Cup in between...in that case, I think Samp has it a little more easier (Roma has almost gave up on the scudetto, Palermo is unexpected, and Juventus would have more likely already achieved their goals).
how important can Fio making CL be to their progress?

If they don't add more than 5 new starters I'd rather see Milan in CL. But of course, could wait 1-2 years getting knocked out early of CL for better team if worth it....
Fiorentina (Corvino) get better value for money, including ChL money, that's for sure.

Though they wouldn't gather as much from ChL as Milan would being a smaller club.
If Fiorentina beat Cagliari they must be as good as have the CL spot as I am unsure if Milan can beat Inter.
There are no easy matches top to bottom. The ones who do not have nothing to play for .... are keen to disrupt others' progress. Ask Juventus ;)

If given a choice.... I 'd rather be in Viola's position than acm's. Viola is the controlling party. Acm can only hope for them to drop points.

Also Acm's home statistics are not good and they are playing twice at home, one with The Current Champion. Therefore, Trend points towards Fiorentina.
sure fiorentina are going to throw it away. milan are something like 52m pounds in the red. CL ball ensures huge revenue streams. uncle silvio is back as PM.

la viola don't stand a chance unfortunatly.

conspiracy theories to the max level... coming from a person who supports the most rotten Italian club and denies the existence of the system Moggi it's a bit funny. :pp
Yes they will.

2 games left and Milan are a point ahead of them now, no way they lose their grip on 4th spot now.

Such a shame, but Fiorentina gave it away.
Credit to Cagliari, who has played some quality matches down the stretch to survive. Poor Fiorentina chose to play their worst at the most important time of the season. Milan is simply there to take advantage, totally controlled Inter today like I haven't seen in months. Great match finally by Kaka, and Ambro was fantastic.
I'm happy because Fiorentina would not have competed in the CL. They should wait 1-2 seasons at least.
Yes, Fiorentina threw it away.

Now the question is: Will Inter throw it away?

Normally and logically it should be close to impossible. But with Mancio at the helm...

Impossible is nothing! :proud:

I'm eagerly awaiting what kind of surprises he has in stock for the match against Siena. :excited:

It would be hard for them to be less impressive than Milan was this season.

...and they'd get better value for money, even if they - in absolute terms - would generate less imcome from the competition than the Milan giants.

Galliani and Berlusca deserved being keelhauled in the UEFA Cup for a season, imo;)

Whereas Fiorentina, sadly, now seem to have been "penalised" for taking their UEFA Cup duties seriously
Oh, and Inter will get 3 points against nothing-to-play-for Siena, mathematically securing the Scudetto.

I don't get impressed by number of points in a league.

good point but they still need an extra year or two to not get embarassed in elite level.

bla bla bla bla bla

my #1 priority is to get good elite level italian football in CL
I see your point, but at the same time there's a danger of simply "maintaning status quo", which I'm not supporting unconditionally.

It's not as if Fiorentina would likely be the next Lazio or Udinese in ChL.

They have far more ressources and did show a great run in the UEFA Cup, impressively beating ChL-material like PSV.

On the other hand Milan were quite awful, including in the ChL.
