Faroe islands, population 50,000

Today they were competitive away from home vs. Israel and Klæmint Olsen scored his third goal of the qualifying campaign. He's played his entire club career domestically for NSI Runavík. He's 31 but surely a decent Danish club could pick him up, at least. But I digress.

San Marino's population is smaller, granted, but not by a large amount. Their player pools are a drop in the ocean compared to other nations. Today they were thrashed 10-0 by England, and yes the Faroes would've lost and quite handily too, but it wouldn't have been so excessive.

In their qualifying group, the Faroes have outperformed Moldova, and were the first team to score against Denmark. Oh the hilarity.

If you respond make sure to leave at least one whale themed joke.

There was a time not long ago when the Faroes had more players in the Bundesliga than Romania.

Edmundsson has since transferred to Belgium though.

Maxim was still there couple years back, I’m pretty sure

But yeah, Bundesliga and even Germany in general not a popular destination for our players in recent times. 2000s we had a fair few

I think Faroes are incredibly underrated , most casual and even non casual fans just compare them to Gibraltar and San Marino but that’s pure disrespect. Every time they get nice results like the two wins over Greece or scoring on bigger sides, it gets forgotten. They deserve a lot of credit for what they do with just 40k and small economy

Joan Simun Edmundsson briefly played in the top flight for Arminia Bielefeld and scored as well. He played a lot more in the second tier though. He's now with Waasland Beveren.

Watch this video and you will understand. Also they have amazing infrastructure, almost every village on the Faroe Islands has a football pitch and they invest a lot in the sport.

The dolphin and whale assassins seem to be short of women. The local women who could do it clearly chose to leave these troglodytes and their killing-innocent-animals-for-fun tradition.
This fact could partly explain their aggressivity.
