I reckon Chelsea now Mutu has left, in the summer when they send Kezman on loan back to PSV they might get him while they are waiting for Tevez to arrive from Corinthians. :lala:

Atletico Madrid owe Milan 23 MLN Euros. Dosen't necessarily mean that Torres will join Milan, but Atletico will have to pay this sum to Milan.

No one... he's a symbol, the Gil family would be killed by the atleticos. Torres only would leave Atlético, if he's not happy there and he forces the situation. But he would never leave for economical reasons, because Atlético would pay him whatever he wants. They would sell the Calderon to play in La Peineta in order to keep Torres, if that were necessary.

Someone already offered them more than 40 million € and they refused the offer. Torres will be "colchonero", as long as he wants to be it.

Well as far as Milan is concerned then, they must pay back the 23 MLN Euros.

They'll pay soon or later. I think that they will do a similar operation to the one that did Real Madrid some years ago. Madrid's City Hall is willing to make some changes in the zone of the stadium and Atlético is thiking in selling the stadium to the city. Atlético would get a lot of millions in this operation and they would play in the stadium that is being built for the Olympic candidature of Madrid 2012.

This is not for sure yet, but they're a big club, so if they can not pay the amount that you say, they'll do this operation, but they won't sell their home star. Atlético is living hard times, but they're not sellers.

Barça knocked on Gil's door and they didn't want to listen to the offer. They said "NO, NO and NO". I even recall to see stickers that said "Torres is not sold".

As said then. They will pay 23 MLN, and with that kind of money Milan will be able to sign somebody else.

......next season Gilardino for example

In some years (not many needed at all IMO) Athletico would need to challenge for trouphies or I think he would want to leave for a team that can do just that. As it is Athletico doesn't seem to be heading for that yet.

if he stays there he will waste his career as totti has done, aiming to be one of the best players in the world but playing just mickey mouse competitions..

no offence for the colchoneros around, but they have not an high profile

as diavolo said, they owe us 23 MLN therefore if it's not him will be any other goodie

Yes Serie A is one hell of a Disney competition. Good knowledge right there... :stoned:

Totti is for sure one of the best, yet he chose "heart" for his city and team rather than football awards. It is also true that Roma back in the year they won the Scudetto was promising and no one would have thought that their managment would have been so dull.

Torres should move to a bigger club because I do not see C. At. de Madrid going to win the Liga or CL any time soon. He like Totti would like to win with his team yet, unfotunately footie says it is not likely.

Fernando Torres means far, far too much to Athletic for them to sell him. To the best of my recollection, they've turned down three huge offers for him in the last two seasons.

Everybody knows Torres is an absolutely phenomenal striker, but what separates him from alot of players is his leadership. He is a cornerstone for Athletic Madrid, and the players rely heavily on him to lead the club both on the pitch and off of it. Torres hates to lose, as you can tell by his cheeks turning rosey-red and the grimace on his face when things are going poorly.

Hell of a competitor, hell of a talent, hell of a leader... any team that could have the opportunity to get Torres would be huge winners. Unfortunately, Torres himself has cut up several big clubs(including Real Madrid, Inter Milan and Bayern Munich), and has declared his admiration and love for Athletic Madrid.

That sounds so sweet of you.

Yet, Atletico have not yet sold him because he is just like Adriano to Inter. Without him they would be out of the Primera. And yes, probably the best Spaniard out there with Reyes.

Vicente and Xavi blow both of Reyes and Torres out of the water, completely. They blow Xabi Alonso and Joaquin out of the water, too, but not so much Joaquin.

Xavi and Vicente are in another class altogether.

When you look on paper, Spain should have one of the best midfields in the world with Vicente, Xavi, Alonso, Luque, Albelda, Baraja, Iniesta, etc.

I tend to disagree Figolover.
I have seen the players you talk about and I agree that Xabi is a great player, yet I was talking more about the attacking players. Yes Xabi is good, but I think that Reyes is a bit better since he proved himself not only in Spain with Sevilla but also in England with Arsenal. Torres, I saw him play and I can say that he is class, yet Jose Mari and Javi Moreno were great in Spain too and look how they did when they moved to another championship (Italy), total flukes.

Vicente is good, but I do not regard him as world class personally. Same with Joaquin and Luque. They seem to be the typical Spaniards who when going into another champ. would totally suck. Take Farinos, Mendieta, etc. as an example.
