Who will be hurt by WC

Which teams will be hurt the most by the WC selection?

Kansas City
Tony Meola -- who is KC's backup keeper?

San Jose
Jeff Agoos and Landon Donovan--a major blow to San Jose's defense and offense

New England Revolution
Carlos Llamosa--just as the Revolution is beginning to gel, it is going to loose the glue that holds together its defense.

Colorado Rapids
Pablo Mastroeni--??

DC United
Eddie Pope--Definitely hurts but not fatal to DC

Chicago
Chris Armas and DaMarcus Beasley and Josh Wolff--Wow! That's a lot to make up for on top of a lot of other injuries. Could be a rough year for the Fire.

LA Galaxy
Cobi Jones--While a mainstay for LA, they can probably get by okay without him

MetroStars
Clint Mathis--It can't help...

Columbus Crew
Brian McBride--Columbus is overloaded with offensive talent so this won't hurt them too badly.

Why would the teams get hurt cause their players are going to the WC? Do the players get released from their contracts or assigned to a different team if they are picked for the WC squad or you're just afraid they'll do good enough to get a transfer to Europe or risking injuries?
I have a feeling that the U.S will be inflicted by injury during the tournament. With their squad being one of the oldest in the tournament.

The WC will occur in the middle of the MLS season, which goes from April to October. Teams with star players going to the WC will be without their services during all of May (for training camp) and most of June, about 6 or 7 matches. Teams could fall pretty far in the standings during that time.
Ah, I see.

I don't understand why the league is scheduled in same time as the WC though... That means that your players do not play football before the WC and the teams miss their best players for the start of the season. To me, this makes no sense...
That's the consequence of soccer not being in this country what it is for the rest of the world. What happens is that the MLS season cannot be scheduled any other time in the year because most of the stadiums are occupied with what these Americans call "football"

What a pity:( :depress: :groan:
Mega its true, but other than Europe, where they stop around the WC time of the year anyways due to summer..the Rest of the world is in the middle of thir respective national championships too..And they take a breather for the WC...Which is what the MLS should do too !!! ;)
