Yeah, I was just wondering who could potentially be the next De Rossi, Gerrard or Essien.

Exclude those currently in big clubs obviously, like Marchisio, Anderson, Gago (have to mention him.. ).

I have a feeling that this player could currently be plying his trade in France, since they have lots of this type of player.

No Bastos isn't defensive. He is having an excellent season offensively. Great left foot.

Yohan Cabaye Of Lille possibly. He can play defensive/offensive mid I think and is an aggresive player with a lot of drive. Also shows good technique going forward.

One for Wenger to look at in the summer.

Joao Moutinho is a great two-way midfielder who Sporting will sell in the summer. He runs all game long, helps recover balls, and definitely starts attacks. Complete player in the mold of a Xavi/Iniesta type.

Read somewhere that Diaby was Wenger's first main choice to go along with Cesc the season before but then he had his injury. Flamini then stepped in and the rest is history. Not sure about Diaby defensively still but hope he is the one to succeed out of him, Denilson and Song. He has more to offer than the others.

Moutinho is not a pure DM but neither are several of the guys you listed. Veloso is a pure DM.

Miguel Veloso has been more interested in other things than football the last year or so.

He has signed a model contract and does that stuff occasionally.
