IMO

Argentina superb team with great players FIRST

England very good team that can anyone a run for their money SECOND

Sweden solid team that could sneak in but might just be outgunned in this group THIRD

Nigeria as talented as England but lack of organization on and off the field will probably hurt them FOURTH

I only see Argentina and England advancing. The only teams that can stop them from advancing are themselves. * Mistakes & Injuries * keys to the success of these two teams, they must not occur.

Argentina and England.

However, I wonder how many actually thought Romania and Portugal would go through from their group in Euro 2000......:rollani:

Argentina goes through as number 1.

For second I have high hopes for Nigeria. There are some real changes around the team.

But only if we play exceptionally well, we can advance coz both England and Sweden are very good. It's a shame 2 of these 4 teams have to go home :(

Englands only advantage is Svennis' knowledge about Sweden. Otherwise Sweden excels England in their own "virtues"..:)

Only an idiot (or a Swede) would say that Sweden will progress. England are better all-round - as are Argentina.

Let's just compare the Swedish team to England. Someone post the best Swedish team and I'll post the best England team.

GK: Seaman
RB: Hargreaves
CD: Ferdinand
CD: Campbell
LB: Cole
RM: Beckham
LM: Heskey
CM: Scholes
CM: Cole
CF: Owen
CF: Fowler

This is even considering we'll miss Gerrard and Dyer (which looks odds-on now).

Maybe I'm an idiot:D , but I'm no Swede. I can't see your point. How can England with crap players as Rio, Heskey or Ashley Cole be considered as superior, not to forget David "look where the ball has gone " Seaman??

Wake up. England has some fine players, but Sweden works like a machine!

I voted with my heart
Argentina and Sweden. This group will be decided after the first game, coz the teams playing for the 2nd spot will be Sweden and England

Actually, Bastin my friend, it also takes common sense to see that Sweden are somewhat better than England.
You squad means NOTHING, we can take a look back in the past, remember the qualifiers to Euro2000?
Everyone thought England would win easy, in the end they needed our help to qualify
And back then you had a better team and Swedens was worse. Oh...btw, did I mention that we haven't lost to England in 30 years? :lala:
:D

You want our squad? Sure, but remember, it's not the best team on the paper that wins, it's the one with bigger heart :proud:

Code:
		M.Hedman

E.Edman O.Mellberg P.Andersson T.Anontelius

F.Ljungberg A.Svensson P.Farnerud N.Alexandersson

	H. Larsson	M.Allbäck
As Viola said, England might have the players, but Sweden has the team spirit :strong:

BTW, Viola, Svennis hardly knows more than any big coach out in Europe about Swedish football, he haven't worked in Sweden for almost 20 years, all he might know is from video tapes and spy reports, like everyone else.
And Rezag, Larsson plays in the SPL, that isn't much of a challenge, of course he's good, but perhaps not as good as his scoreline shows. And Ljungberg has the best passing skilled players in the world backing him up, like Bergkamp and Pires, we don't have that in Sweden, so he might be a disapointment for both us Swedes and for Freddie-fans :scared:

I'll forgive the accusation that Ivanhoe is crap, but Cole is one of the best left backs in Europe - behind only the likes of Lizarazu and Roberto Carlos. He's also only 20, which is a huge advantage.

What's all this David "look where the ball has gone" Seaman thing? Is that what people abroad call him? If it is, then you are an idiot, Viola! Seaman has been the most consistent goalkeeper over the last 10 years in Europe. Ever since 1991, when we won the league, only lost one game, and conceded a measly 16 goals, he has been one of the best in the world. Hedman is a poor goalkeeper - no doubts about that. How can anyone claim that Hedman is better if he concedes more goals per shot in a lower division?

Rio Ferdinand is a quality young defender. Crap? I think not. He has been one of the most consistent players over the last season in England, in a season when the Premiership has had the most exciting attacking play. He's undoubtedly one of the best central defenders in Europe. He may not be better than Thuram, Cannavaro, Nesta, or Campbell, but he is a rock.

I think not! Name one team that's won the World Cup on heart alone. Maybe Uruguay in 1930 and 1950, but in 1930 they were at home, and in 1950, the tournament was shambolic.

Player-by-player, I don't think that anyone can claim that Sweden is better.

Seaman v Hedman - Seaman. See my reason above.
Hargreaves v Edman - Hargreaves. He's a former European champion
Ferdinand v Mellberg - Ferdinand. Mellberg has had a really poor season.
Campbell v Andersson - Campbell. He's on fire, and one of the best in the world.
Cole v Anontelius - Cole. No contest
Ljungberg v Beckham - Beckham. Even I think Beckham's better!
Scholes v Svensson - Scholes. No contest
Cole v Farnerud - Cole. Cole has more skill and drive.
Owen v Allback - Owen. He's one of the greatest players in the world.
Fowler v Larsson - Larsson. Best Swedish player in many years.

Whats with the jokes about Seaman?
He's one of the most reliable keepers in the world and only really lacks agility.

I'm not in the mood to argue with a bunch of swedes who have the mass intellect to call a player of Rio's Ability "crap", esspecially when they have amazing players Mellberg in central defence.

Dyer will be back, he's a miricle when it comes to healing wounds, no worries.

remember the qualifiers to Euro2000?
Yes, i do also since we didn't even have a proper manager.

And back then you had a better team and Swedens was worse
Stop basing your arguements on results over 2 years ago, esspecially when a majority of the team on a whole has changed.

Hey guys, i wanna join this debate and i think that Sweden is far more organized and has a much better team spirit then England, im sure we'll loose against Argentina but England, im quite sure, they wont beat us, i can only see a win for us or a draw.. Remember that the England barely tied against Sweden just a while back in England without 3 of their best players, larsson, p. andersson och ljunberg... so you will see how Sweden will outclass those spoiled players like Becks and Owen..... TEAM SPIRIT MY FRIENDS!

This is how the group will look like, i give u my word....

Group F Points
Argentina 7
Sweden 4
---------------------------------
Nigeria 3
England 1

How is Beckham spoilt? He is a world class player, and I'm not being biased - I hate his guts!!! Owen is also an excellent player, and with the passing ability of Beckham backing him up, I can't see him failing to score at least once in EVERY group game - including the one against Argentina.

As for this table, it's a joke. England will beat Nigeria, beat Sweden, and draw with Argentina - leaving us top on goal difference.

I think everyone here underestimates the value of good players in a team. All of the Swedes (and Finns...) are claiming that we don't stand a chance. Given the quality of defenders in Sweden's team, they'll be torn apart. Especially given that Andersson won't make the game against England - whereas Dyer looks set to play a part in that game.
