Or, where are you from, fellow forumers? How did you become an Argie fan and how did you come upon this forum? :)

I was born in the lower east side of New York City and learned to play football, at age 11, on the horrible concrete court at Roosevelt Park. My teammate, an exchange student from Chile, taught me all about Diego Maradona and I taught myself all I needed to know about Batigol after WC 1994.

I came across XT by chance and, thanks to czar and Mau, managed to locate the best spots in NYC and Europe to watch all the SA prelims and wept loudly with crowds in albiceleste shirts in 1998, 2002 and 2006 :(

I don't post as much these days as I labor long hours on museum projects and travel frequently. [I am an art historian and museum curator btw.] However, I do appreciate the hard work that all of you put into this forum so I can continue to shout [in front of the telly or monitor] in my albiceleste shirt

Your turn.

well, i was born in germany near WC 2006 City Kaiserslautern where i still live. I started playing with 5 years and i was pretty good. After i played a lot in our league selection i was voted as the best player of the state (Rheinland-Pfalz) and started playing for Kaiserslautern. I also had some caps for the U15 national team until I injured my cruciate ligament and broke my shin and calf bone at two spots. This was the end of playing football. Now i play for my hometown sometimes in the 11th league :).

I'm argentina fan since 1990. The first game i can remember is brazil argentina 1990. And then i allways followed the argentine NT and they became my favorite. I was allways impressed by diego's style and it was a very sad day when he had to stop playing. I think Maradona is the main reason for my passion to argentine soocer. I also watch the league whenever i can, but here in germany you allways have to wait till 2 AM to watch the games.

i came to XT because there are only a few places to talk about argentine soocer. My english isn't very good, but it's ebough to say what i mean and it's far better than searching for a german site b/c i think i'm the only german who supports argentina.

Chicago!

I discovered soccer late in life, accidently by switching television channels. Suddenly there was a soccer game in Spanish. Since there was no internet at the time, I had to follow Argentina by buying 2-week old copies of El Grafico. Since I didn't know any Spanish, I had to teach myself by looking up every word in the dictionary. Eventually I was able to read it by myself.

I know that feeling well (go to bed at 9pm, set the alarm for 1:45am; go to bed at 4:30am, set the alarm for 6:45am ...) :D and then I was in NYC during the Athens Olympics so the cycle repeated itself ... and for the final they decided to kick off the match around 10am local time (!) aye, go to bed at midnight, set the alarm for 3:30am ...

Btw feel free to post images! Here's where I began my sporting life:

I was born in Saudi Arabia and left there since I was 2 years back to Jordan - Amman. I started watching football and enjoying it at 6 and fell in love with Maradona at 10 and I am die-hard Argenina fan ever since.

I never felt great playing football, do not like playing and recently watching it, I only watch Argentina, Boca and teams that have Argentine players with except for Inter. I love playing basketball and was pretty good at it, do not like watching it though! Played Ju jitsu for a couple of years, boxing for a year and Taekwando for two years but never went on at any of them.

However, it is just a strang feeling I get when I watch Argentina playing! I do not know but the only thing I feel is love and passion for the shirt and the players, frustration and irritation for the coaches!

I used to live on 19th St. and S. Racine. You?

... and where in Chicagoland are you living now? I know it's somewhere in the west suburbs... Downers Grove/Woodrige-ish... no?

well, yesterday was a great day for my club. The decision was made that we get 2 new football pitches.
This one
will be one of our training pitches, the other training pitch will be a 60x60 yards artificial turf and our pitch to play will be normal gras. The works will beginn when the season is over. man, i'm so happy about this.

We tend to go a little crazy at this time of year and do things to excess, after all, the days are getting shorter (or longer) and there are too many reasons for merry making. So, I set out to write my 2008 wish list and leave it on the table for him ...

Dear Santa:

We've been good  this year, and this is what we want:

For Humbird, a pair of metallic stilettos, 1 white 1 blue
For Fangio, a new computer and a digital camera, 1 white 1 blue
For Pooh, two tons of Messi pics, 1 set white 1 set blue
For bene, new futbol boots, 1 white 1 blue
For ampersand, a couple of phone cards to call Basile, 1 white 1 blue
For Loco, 2 each of the world's best graphic software, in white and blue
For czar's beautiful Isabella, 2 infant-size futbols, 1 white 1 blue
For Cacique, two Tv sets to watch, from Chile, all Argie games, 1 white 1 blue
For Dammage, surgical mask and matching scrubs, 1 white 1 blue
For Homer, DVDs of all past Argie games, in cases white and blue
For JCamilo, an all new Argie outfit, white and blue
For Bonita, a pair of silk gloves, 1 white 1 blue

But most of all, to you, Santa Lionel, a speedy recovery!

Happy Winter/Summer Solstice everybody, whereever you play Crocket :)
