The great Juventus legend Alex"Pinturicchio"Del Piero is struggling for form at the moment and it seems a bit of a mystery what the problem is.He hasn't been his usual self for La Vecchia Signora for a little while now,Do you think he is lacking in confidence or is it more than that?

What are you talking about? He sucked last year, and during EC2004. Did anyone expect him to shine or something?
he got injured early in the season which isnt the best way to start off the season. whats weird is that he hasnt been in form this season but he has been scoring goals. normally when he is out of form, he doesnt score and that is the main problem. but he has been able to find the net this season, not consistantly, but at least he has bagged some.

I also believe he is struggling with the new tactics and of course new players around him.

These of course are not excuses, he should be playing better, but these could be some reasons as to why he is struggling.

Well for Juve of course,we know how he performed for Italy.

Or the cold-hearted facts; he is finished?
he may be Valdrin, who really knows. and once again, dont compare del piero for juve and for italy.
Del Piero has proven that he is no longer good enough to play for Italy. He had a couple of promising touches in a couple of games earlier in the season but that is all.

I think perhaps the problem with him is that he shows a lack of fire on the field. He doesn't show enough desperation for the ball, he doesn't show that he wants to take Juve on his shoulders and lead them to glory. After being injured all the time you would think that he would show more fire in these games such as the Milan one and a couple of other games. I hope for his sake that he gets benched until he starts to play like he wants win on the field, and lead this team for victory.
That's what I was referring to what's wrong with Alex at Juve?Didn't go to the NT,There seems to be a real problem at the moment and more than just Injuries IMO.
What's wrong with Pinturicchio? (btw, superb nick!!!2  for whomever came up with that little pearl of name for him!:star: ). He's just being himself. :lala::jester:

Cheers.;)
There's nothing wrong with him really. Like all great players, he's just going through a bad patch, and may Capello keeps the faith in him and starts him in all future games. ;)
It's hard for players who have been playing great and suddenly become absent due to an injury to have great form it takes time, If Del Piero remains 100% fit and uninjured he will be back to his best for sure.
I really don't see anything in DelPiero today. Against Milan today, he looked completely uninspired, like at some points, Zlatan was up front with only Nedved supporting, and I could not find DelPiero anywhere. To be honest, he hasn't been good at all this season. CUG is right, and i agree saying he has surprisingly been scoring, but even when you look at his goals, mostly tap-ins or in the 6 yard box. True, getting there is half the battle, but I remember seeing DelPiero taking on players, scaring the opposition, whereas now he seems harmless, and people laugh when he is on the field.

Del Piero needs to go back to the basics, moving to the ball, and not waiting for it, and really focus on running ... something i hardly saw him do today.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with Gay Piero.

He comes to play when he feels like it....which is very rarely.

And seeing how Capello subs him every game, I don't think he'll be around too long.
Constant, world class Del Piero is something like Carson's own point - I'm afraid we will never be able to see it.

But why when he is'nt performing that Injury card always comes out?He has been flat for a while now.
he played poorly 45 minutes agianst Milan. I wish he was the only one.

Agnelli did ;)
His time is done, unfortunately. After the injury he's just been going downhill and hasn't remotely shown us that side of him which he sported prior to the injury. In my opinion, another factor that makes it worse for him to get better is the media. The pressure can get to you.

So why does he not finally close the "chapter Italy" ??? If I were him I would have done this much earlier. He could totally focuss on Juve then.
Call it fate or whatever.... in the meantime I gave up the hope that he ever will permanently shine for Italy. For some single games yes, but not over half a year or longer. HE is not the hope for 2006, he will (hopefully) be almost 32 then.
I would not say his time is over, he is too young to say this and for the club he can still be usefull. But he never again was that great than before his knee injury in 1998.
