That's correct. Roy is it's English equivelant. The Spaniards spelled it with a Y however. As in Ruy Lopez, the Spanish monk who created the now overused 'Ruy Lopez' chess opening. Fascinating stuff, I know.Nice old topic. I belive we had this discussion in the old portuguese forum and they came up with it is kind of like "Roy", which in english is short for "Roy". It's kind of a random name.
