You know what the more I think about it the more I like it. He's for free, no? And I think he has a little to prove to his mates in Benfica land. As long as he reduces his salary demands amd makes peace with PS, well I guess anything is possible. Why not?

Are they trying to make JVP rescind his contract and thus avoid paying his wages?
If Benfica release him they've still gotta pay his wages.
The only other way is to transfer list him as a free transfer, so he's still a benfica player until another team wants to "buy" him at nil value. In that scenario JVP would still have to agree to any move.

Bottom line is JVP can stay at Benfica until 2004 and still pick up his wages even if Heynckes sends him away from training, doesn't pick him etc.

I'm puzzled...can anyone clear this up for me?

So let's get him...Look at Deco, Jardel, Kulkov, Yuran...they came from Benfica and they didn't like them there...

Well I heard that his contract was terminated - which means HE IS NO LONGER A BENFICA PLAYER. Therefore, he is owned by NO club and can join any team he wishes who makes an approach to sign him.

I personally think we would have not much to lose by signing him, as he is free. As long as he doesn't demand rediculous wages, he would be a good signing.

He needs to be around a manager, players and a president who will support him. But do we honestly have that??
