As Boyo would say, here at Lazio is better to put a good news in disguise :)
So, from SportM****set
http://www.sportmediaset.it/mercato/articoli/articolo19016.shtml
Lazio and Al Sadd have reached an agreement about the sale of Mauro Zàrate to the Eagles. Lazio will pay 15 million euro (adding that to the 2 million for the loan) for a 5 year contract. Zàrate will see his wages going up season by season, going from the current 800.000 euro to 1,5 million euro in the fifth year of his contract.

The only thing we could do. Let's hope it becomes official soon. I'm expecting Zarate to leave before the contract is over, but to let such a nugget go would be crazy. Selling him should easily fetch that 15 million if he continues like this.

I agree!!! Buy him his value is high. If he playes this way his value will be higher and higher. Then even if he wants to leave teams like Inter or real will pay big money for him.
I hope that doesnt happen, but we have seen it in the past.

Good for you guys, hopefully he continues to improve mainly mentally-cause once he becomes mature and begins taking the right decisions he will become truelly a World Class player; worthy of any big team.

He needs to show more stability and team play. Sometimes he seems to be too anxious, wanting to decide the game by himself.

Anyway, I approve the signing, of course.

Brazilian papers say we are after Miranda, from São Paulo, as well. It would be a GREAT signing. IMO, he's even better than Thiago Silva. Not as fast or good in the air as Thiago, but a more classy player, pretty much like Juan. Good on the ball and better technique. I pray the deal goes on!

That's a lovely Christmas present from Lotito.

It's a heck of a lot of money though, but Zarate is one of the most exciting players that have joined the club in recent years, so it certainly seems justified.

So,

Zarate - we sign him for good:

Miranda - fantastic central defender. With Diakite, Rozenhal and Sivilglia, we would have a respectable central defensive line.

Elano - The most needed right now.

Outgoing:

Makinwa

Mauri and Meghni perhaps ?

Who else ?

While the sports papers are filled with headlines announcing that Juventus have got Diego, Inter have taken Milito and Inzaghi (Pippo, of course) has bought a kilogramme of apples at Carrefour, I have found this article on a web site about Lazio (reporting a news from "Gazzetta dello Sport", probably appearing at page 36 or about there):
http://www.piazzadellaliberta.it/2009/05/08/zarate-lazio-al-saad-ok-per-21-milioni/

Gazzetta dello Sport

The article says that Al Sadd has given the green light for the sale of Mauro Zàrate to Lazio, thanks to a clause of rescission (or whatever the term is) of 21 million euro, although Al Sadd wanted to lift that clause to 25 million euro.
According to "Gazzetta dello Sport", Zàrate's will to stay at Lazio was decisive in the deal being done. Maurito will earn about 2 million euro a season, thus becoming the Lazio player earning most.
