I prefer this one:

Year: English Champions-Spanish Champions
2000/2001: Man Utd-Real Madrid
2001/2002: Arsenal-Valencia
2002/2003: Man Utd-Real Madrid
2003/2004: Arsenal-Valencia
2004/2005: Chelsea-Barcelona
2005/2006: Chelsea-Barcelona
2006/2007: Man Utd-Real Madrid

Liverpool beat Milan in 2005, Juve didn't make the final. There goes your weird observation. Or are you meaning in general, not necessarily finals?

And even if it'd had been true, there is still such thing as "coincidence". I honestly don't believe there is a curse on Real Madrid.
I'm sure he meant in general, not only in finals.

Interesting observation though :)

I know what does it take to observe such things, you have to be a football addict with a special difficulty in getting the past matches out of your memory.

But you know, Madrid is knocked out usually in the advanced stages, at least 1/8 finals, the next team then loses in the quarterfinals or semis, the winner is then in the semis or the final. Thus we are down to 2 or 4 teams, a very narrow pool.
Bottom line, Bravo, but a bit less impressive job then it does look like.

OK so from this thread I know many things.

1. To put Man Utd to win the final

2. Whoever if anyone knocks out Madrid next year to immediately not back them to win the CL, but instead back the team that knocks the team who beat Madrid out :D

3. To do these doubles for the title next year... Chelsea-Barca or Man U-Real Madrid. :D

Funny statistic, but nothing extraordinary, because at the end, the chance that a team that wins the CL is also the team that knocked out the team that beat real is not really low, something like 25%.

Valencia might be relegated this season. :scared:

If Arsenal depends on Valencia to win the Premiership... I can see Jern, ILA, nEEbz and company with a total depression for the next 20 years. :D

Well. yeah. the probability would be 25% for a single year.

Then for the trend to hold for 6 years, the chances of that happening is 0.25^6.....which is 0.000244.....pretty extraordinary.

So technically this means Real Madrid can no longer win the CL. Great news! Considering Real Madrid cannot knock out a team that knocked them out b/c they are knocked out already.

I've also got one.

Since about 1990, which ever team finishes 3rd or 4th in the World Cup, completely struggles in the following tournament.

Also for a few years, who ever wins the CL is knocked out in the 2nd round the following year.
