Will be a really hard game, but a very interesting one...I have no idea what to expect

From channel4:

Serie A Week 33 - 13/4/08 (14.00 UK)
Udinese - Roma
LIVE ON FIVE
Stadio Friuli

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Roma can’t afford any more slip-ups if they are to stay in the Scudetto race, but they must negotiate a banana skin when they travel to the Stadio Friuli to take on Champions League chasing Udinese.

Udinese are back in the hunt for Champions League qualification but could be made to regret last weekend’s 1-1 draw with Siena. The Zebrette are five points off fourth place and their season is at a crossroads. If Pasquale Marino can inspire his men to a sprint finish, they could steal a place in Europe’s showpiece club competition, but if they stutter they could still miss out on the UEFA Cup.

Unbeaten in seven, the Friulani have put their mid-season slump behind them, but the damage could already have been done. Marino has insisted that his 11 can overcome second-placed Roma, but it remains to be seen whether they have what it takes to assert themselves at the highest level.

Luciano Spalletti was at the helm when Udinese last qualified for the Champions League in 2004-05 and the Tuscan mastermind returns to his old stomping ground with the Scudetto in his gun-sights. Spalletti’s task will be to turn attention back to the League after their midweek European engagement, but he will worry that the Giallorossi are running out of steam somewhat.

The capital club had to dig deep to see off Genoa 3-2 last weekend and they can expect a sterner test in the North-east. With Inter taking on Fiorentina, Roma could see this as a great chance to up the pressure on the leaders, but it could also signal the disintegration of their title dream – this will truly be a test of the Lupi’s mettle.

Roma edged out Udinese 2-1 in Week 14 in an exciting game that saw three goals in the first half hour and the Bianconeri’s Giampiero Pinzi and Andrea Dossena sent off in the closing stages.

Marino has lost a number of key men. Giandomenico Mesto is suspended and Nigerian midfielder Christian Obodo is out for the season, but the back line has been hit hardest, with key men Cristian Zapata and Dias Felipe injured. Goalkeeper Antonio Chimenti and youngster Raffaele De Martino are out of action.

The big question for Roma is whether Francesco Totti can recover from a thigh injury and he has a 50 per cent chance of making the side. Defender Matteo Ferrari is recovering from a knee problem and Ludovic Giuly has been struggling with muscle fatigue but should be fine.

Keep an eye on: Daniele De Rossi (Roma) – The Azzurri midfielder has taken on the captain’s mantle in the absence of Francesco Totti and has become a truly talismanic figure.

Last season: Udinese 0-1 Roma

Form guide: Udinese (D W W W D) Roma (W L W D W)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Udinese (probable): Handanovic; Ferronetti, Zapotocny, Lukovic; Pinzi, D’Agostino, Inler, Dossena; Pepe, Quagliarella, Di Natale

Roma (probable): Doni; Cicinho, Mexes, Juan, Tonetto; De Rossi, Pizarro, Taddei, Perrotta, Vucinic; Totti

we got handled.....period.

it is true that we missed some great chances especially with di natale one on one with doni and quagliarella getting a header cleared off the line...but the truth of that matter is that roma were BY FAR much better than us...they could have score like six times. our defense with the exception of zapotocny, was horrendous. every time roma came forward that had a chance to score. we were just plain old bad today and roma were great as usual. THANK the lord that samp, fiorentina, AND milan all lost this week so we remain ok for the 4th spot if possible. next week will be the most important game for us this season, sampdoria in genoa. FORZA UDINE!!!! ALE!!!!!!!
