WEAH TERMINATES HIS CONTRACT
George Weah no longer plays for Milan. The Liberian striker who has been training Milanello this week agreed to terminate his contract - which still had a year to run -
during an afternoon visit to the club headquarters in Via Turati.
Accompanied by his manager Fabio Parisi, Weah arrived in Via Turati at 3.30pm. After meeting with Galliani and Ariedo Braida he decided to end his association with the Rossonero club.
Galliani failed to hide his sorrow at the decision: "This is a very sad day for both myself and the fans. A piece of Milan history has come to an end. George Weah contributed a great deal in helping us to win two Scudetti. Let's not forget that during his time with us he also won the World Player of the Year award. His name will forever be associated with this club."
When asked where he thought Weah might go next, Galliani revealed that he had already received inquiries. "I took a call this [Wednesday] morning from Roma president Franco Sensi. He was asking about the player's situation."
