In line with the national board's name change, a general meeting was held last week and the Victoria Soccer Federation has changed their name to the Football Federation of Victoria.

This caused a bit of controversy among the AFL when they wanted to change their name to Football Victoria. Apparently this name was in use by an AFL body. This new name sounds better anyway.

Old news but it was deemed official in the last week. Has beem some talk about it, mostly from AFL types spitting the dummy thinking we were "stealing" their name. can only say one thing to them-----> :finger:

Well they're running scared all over the place. Last week the chairman of the West Australian Football Commission was speaking regarding the Super 14's and the A-League and how they may impact on AFL. He just spat some bullshit which all wasn't true, one such comment was that Rugby and Football were trying to steal AFL juniors.

At the end of the day, globalisation is competing with AFL. With the advent of cable/satellite TV more and more people are exposed to both football and rugby and subsequent generations will consequently take up these games rather than Aussie Rules. It'll take time though.

Just reminded me of something, the AFL's quest to get the game around the globe. Seems to be working, 200 people turned up to some match in America last week :D
