National team coach Rudi Voller has appointed former Borussia Dortmund coach Michael Skibbe his assistant.

The 34-year-old was sacked last February by the German giants, after less than two years in charge, before being replaced by Bernd Krauss.

Voller took over the German reigns from Erich Ribbeck, who resigned after Germany's dismal Euro 2000 campaign and will be in charge until Leverkusen coach Christophe Daum takes over next summer.

Skibbe was chosen ahead of Friedhelm Funkel, Andreas Brehme and Joachim Low for the position, but will only serve in this position for a year until Daum's current assistant, Roland Koch, will take over as the national team No. 2.
