His stature is impressive. However lets see if he can stay consistent.

Well he has played just 5 senior matches in his career. 1 very good game. 1 good game. 1 game against liege where he couldnt save the goals but didnt have to do anything else... and 2 very poor games for Barnsley

but if we consider all its the most recent matches where he has shown his ability and there must be a reason why Wenger kept him at the club despite not playing a game. He must see some potential there.

Very poor at getting distance in saves. He'll have to wait another 10 years to replace Buffon, and then Wenger will not be playnig him at all. An over 30 player. Not a chance, that's if Wenger is still doing his thing.

A decidely average player. He had a good game versus Fulham, yes, but you would expect any EPL keeper to have made those saves. Put it down to Zamora and Johnson's profligacy in front of goal, rather than any Mannone heroics.

It wasn't just the saves though and yes people are going over the top about them, the best one was when he tipped Gera's low shot around the post. It was that he looked well tuned into the match. Very focused.

This has more to do with Almunia and Fabianski.

Give him a run see how he goes. The other options are not that great not to do that.

you never know with young keepers.

Curci should have been a superstar by now.

Although he does seem commanding, lets see how we goes.
Well said. That's what makes Buffon so special, ever since he first came through as a 17(?) year old he has been quality through and through, with very few and short spells of bad form. That's quite unsual for goalkeepters, who usually emerge much later.

Come to think about it, Casillas is a similar case. Props to the two of them.

Anyway Italys best prospect in goal is playing in the U20 world cup... Fiorillo of Sampdoria, but Mannone came to Arsenal with a great reputation and he does have the presence of a really good GK. Being a top class one is just about consistency and lets see how consistent he really is.

Still conceding goals though...

Mannone didn't have much to do yesterday but still managed to let two goals in.
