Fiorentina President Ottavio Bianchi has revealed that he’s already lined up a new boss for next season but he won’t reveal his name.

"I’ve already concluded talks for a new Coach but the only thing is that I’m not going to tell you who it is," he told La Nazione newspaper.

It’s widely believed that Palermo’s Bortolo Mutti is the man contacted with the aim of getting the side back into Serie A even if Renzo Ulivieri and Edy Reja remain possibilities.

Bianchi spent Sunday at Modena as he witnessed the home side’s 2-0 win over Palermo. When asked why he chose that game he said he was doing much needed research.

"I went as a spectator as it was the most important game of the weekend. I went to see how football was played in Serie B."
He added: "I wanted to see at what level the Second Division players were at.
"I wanted to compare them with the men that are already in the Viola squad that I’ve grown familiar with over the past year.
"I have my scouts but sometimes I prefer to see things with my own eyes."

Italian media have now reported that the mystery man is, indeed, Krist Novoselic.

Fio President Bianchi stated in an interview, "We just cannot afford a professional coach, so we contacted Krist. He came highly recommended. We haven't met him yet, but we understand that he is quite funny and entertaining, really knows his football and, most importantly for us....will work for low wages."

Sources speculate that Krist's contract will include weekly beer and guitar string allowances. It has also been agreed that his band will be allowed to perform during halftime at home matches.

Other Italian sources have expressed their doubts, however. One who wanted to remain anonymous, stated, "Krist's training methods are quite unconventional. He believes strongly in the benefits of late night parties before matches....relying heavily on his abilites with sarcasm and irony to intimidate the opponents."

It appears certain that next seasons the coach of Fiorentina will be Bortolo Mutti. Only yesterday president Bianchi made the statement that he had "closed the deal" on the coach after attending the Serie B game between Modena and Palermo on the weekend. Mutti on the bench for Palermo and De Biasi on the other who know seems out of the picture.
Mutti has already worked together with Bianchi when they were together at Napoli and with all probability will be with Fiorentina but an announced will not be made till the end of the season.
