Blimey, Stuttgart look like the away team - Benfica are possession kings.

I aim to go to this stadium to watch Germany-Brazil in August but, looking at the stadium, a ticket could be a tough task with the reduced capacity. When is the stand behind the goal likely to be finished? How many people does the stadium hold at present please?

Any news on the keeper's injury? It looked very serious. Hopefully just a concussion...

He was out for a while and got sent to hospital where he could be talked to, nothing more known yet.

No word on whether he had movement of his extremities? A concussion, based on what I saw, would be ok. But the way the neck snapped back, it's paralysis that was worrying...

No injuries at neck or head is what they found in the hospital. However he will not be able to play on the weekend and most likely not in the coming weeks.

As for the game, for a German fan it was boring, Stuttgart had no chance.

It is a very hard draw. Rot-We Oberhausen were one of the leading teams in the second division last season and are one of the favourites to win promotion this year. But they obviously need to reach the next round: Oberhausen will certainly give us a run for our money.

Wow, reviving a 9 year old thread here. VfB got promoted back to the Bundesliga from 2.Bundesliga and are now 1-0-1 for the new season (20-21). At home last week, down to Freiburg 0-3, they came back with 2 goals to close it to 2-3. Today, they had the bulk of possession early on, with 5 corners, when Mainz scored on their only shot-on-goal. Stuttgart came back with 4 goals to take all 3 points and beat Mainz for the first time since 2005 in Mainz.

Goals - Assists
Wamangituka 2 - 1
Kalajdzic 2 - 1
Didavi 1 - 1
Klimowicz 1 - 0
Castro 0 - 1

Goals scored: 6
Goals conceded: 4

Week 3: Stuttgart 0-1 Bayer Leverkusen at the half. Gave up first goal for third week in a row, in the 8th minute. Seemed to settle down after that but offensive zone passing has been pretty poor. Bayer Leverkusen has been able to break very quickly which catches the Stuttgart midfield out of position.

Week 3: It ends VfB Stuttgart 1-1 Bayer Leverkusen. VfB brought on younger, fresher legs in the second half and were rewarded with a goal when Klement's free kick was headed in by Kalajdzic. The result was fair; Bayer Leverkusen were the better team most of the match, but Stuttgart did attack more in the second half and put pressure on the Leverkusen goal.

VfB remain ahead of Leverkusen in the table on 4 points: 1-1-1.

Goals - Assists
Kalajdzic 3 - 1
Wamangituka 2 - 1
Didavi 1 - 1
Klimowicz 1 - 0
Klement 0 - 1
Castro 0 - 1

Goals scored: 7
Goals conceded: 5

Oh these international weeks, so boring. Week 4 has VfB Stuttgart visiting Berlin to take on Hertha BSC. Expected lineup is:

Kalajdzic
Castro, Mangala, Didavi, Wamangituka
Endo
Sosa, Kempf, Anton, Mavropanos
Kobel

Just guessing at right back (Mavropanos) since Stenzel will be back from his red card sit.
Hope to watch this live despite traveling on the weekend.

Matchday 4, starting lineup against Hertha in Berlin:

Kalajdzic
Castro, Didavi
Coulibaly, Endo, Mangala, Wamangituka
Kempf, Karazor, Stenzel
Kobel

9' Didavi free kick headed in by Kempf, 0-1. Half ends that way. Coulibaly looking very active on the left and getting fouled quite often. Stuttgart the better team in the first half.

VfB pick up the away win 0-2 on a Kempf header in the first half off a Didavi free kick, and a long range Castro shot in the second half off a touch back by Klimowicz. Two away wins now to go with a home draw and loss.

Week 4: 2-1-1 7 points

Goals - Assists
Kalajdzic 3 - 1
Wamangituka 2 - 1
Didavi 1 - 2
Castro 1 - 1
Klimowicz 1 - 1
Kempf 1 - 0
Klement 0 - 1

Goals scored: 9
Goals conceded: 5
Clean sheets: 1
