Well Benfica needed a new left defender because they lost the promising Bruno Basto...Veneditis from PAOK was in their mind but that fell through...so with apparently no money, a bunch of debt, and god knows what else people claim Benfica's problems are they sign a 21 year Chilean left back by the name of Alejandro Martinez Scalone from Torino.

It also seems that we have found a new Benfica offensive playmaker/scorer..Dani might not be necessary. The 20 year old Miguel(ex-Estrela Amadora) has been a monster in practice scoring goals in bunches and setting them up.

It looks like everything is coming together..Our defense is looking strong and youthful, our midfield solid with Poborsky/Sabry/Calado/Kaundaurov(Miguel) and our Front line potent NUNO GOMES/Van Hoo...

Well that's why I love JVA...I'm telling you the guy is a master of ambiguity. He claims Dani is a problem child due to all his whoring around (which if I was Dani, I would do the same but with less publicity ) just to drive his price down but would not have any problems getting this problem child on his team...He's a genius...

Amoroso the Portuguese Press is a wanna-be English Press which basically means for the most part crap! I think it's the same the world over for press in general...they thrive on BS rumors, causing controversies and over all havoc so that it sells.

You have to filter it and take it for what it's worth...PAOK and Benfica were in negotiations for Venetidis but it fell through...I hear he's a solid left defender. We would have loved to have him but c'est la vie...

Dominguez is a player molded after our man Sabry. Extremely fast on the wing, great ball control, decent passer, but does not have Sabry's shot!

Anyhow I think that if you caught a Benfica game this coming season you'd enjoy them. They have a very young and talented team and should play a very nice game...at least we fans hope
