USA vs Mexico - result

Once again, the U.S. has given me cause for worry. Not because they played so well, but because of their competitive spirit. I have a business acquaintance in Denver who was at the game, and he sent me a summary.

These guys apparently played like their lives depended on it, charging around the field like rabid dogs. They didn't have much possession, and the single goal they scored was kind of fluky, (Mexican goalkeeper collides with his own defence, drops ball to Mathis' feet!), but sounds like the play a very fast physical game. Mexico 0, U.S. 1.

The USA could be a really tough game for us. If we play anything like we did against Finland i can see them beating us and possibly win the group as well. We will have to watch them very carefully when the two teams meat at the world cup.

Don't believe evrything you hear. It was a very poorly played game by both teams, neither of whom were at full strength. Fortunately for the US, they will have much better players to rely upon come June. As for last night, they looked completely disorganized in the first half, with some improvement in the second. The goal was very fluky; otherwise, they are looking at a scoreless draw.
all I say beware the wounded Pride Of Portugal!!

I am sick of this USA chit , they may look OK on Paper but how many Paper giants have we seen through the ages ??? chitloads !!!

I say lets worry about ourselves and hoipefully come June 5th we will give USA a nice Present :) a lesson of Portuguese class with a 4 - 0 beating !!

I faer for our chances as we seem to do best when we are the underdogs.
The US-Mexico game was horrible. The US played with a completely experimental line-up; I would say more than 1/2 of the people who played won't even make the final WC roster.

This game only showed what was already made obvious about the US:

*Lots of holes at the back, unless Eddie Pope plays to his potential.
*Midfield can't hold possesion without O'Brien and Reyna.
*Mathis is a legit poacher who is a superstar in the making.
*Wolff with dangerous speed to burn.
*Cobi Jones needs to be set out to pasture...NOW!
