ESTADIO CASTELAO

Uruguay must be grateful for being drawn with Costa Rica for the opener. Of course nothing is guaranteed but it seems like they will likely gain three points and get the kinks out. Costa Rica is another team that is happy to be here. Hopefully, it will be an exciting match to open up one of the group of deaths.

My prediction: Uruguay 3-0 Costa Rica

hopefully for england and italy suarez absence leads to uruguay flopping, but that is more unlikely than italy and england flopping against costa rica themselves

Lugano exagerrated being fouled twice by putting his hands up and touching the ball. When will refs learn? Lugano should at least have been booked for.diving.

Of course same holding on the other side is not.called. diving is the main difference to win at least this first half 1-0.

very boring game, Costa Rica other than Campbell and maybe Ruiz just don't have the quality and Uruguay aren't impressive as well. Very poor challenge by Diaz to cause the penalty but Costa Rica should have had one as well with a similar situation on a corner

Costa Rica should feel unlucky with that one handball by Lugano, but man what a player Campbell is going to be one day. Not so big on his acting skills but damn is his talent ever there.

Penalty all the way. It was quite a pathetic attempt to mark Lugano on the freekick from Diaz. He basically gave up and just clung onto Lugano in a rugby style challenge.

Costa Rica look very dodgy defending setpieces and they are not as physically strong as Honduras were against England in the recent friendly.

Campbell is a bright spot for them but if you can't defend setpieces you will lose every game in the World Cup. I thought they might be as physical as Honduras showed against England but they aren't as physical as them at all.

At least England will get one win in the group :D
