meh, u dont play bunker ball in friendlies....go and attack them and if u get pounded 4-0 so be it. How are u supposed to evaluate players by playing bunker ball, it doesnt make sense to me. How come keaton parker didnt get more mins? hes the best #8 on this team and maybe a future star at benfica. Anyway , steffen won the keeper job. Mckennie is A DM right now. He needs some more seasoning(well, so does adams, moore and robinson lol ) at shalke if he wants to be a good 2 way player. Adams is going to go to germany so thats good. Centerbacks are good. Miazga can play.Vickers was good. palmer is the truth. Robinson will prolly be our LB and will prolly get mins at everton next season.....

the kids(most of them are under 20!) did alright...they have clean touches and can string passes together . I thought we played well. We weren't going to possess the ball in this game, and this is far from our best team, so not a bad performance. We worked hard, and defended well. Offensively, could we really expect much better?

rubin, villafana, hamid are prolly done. Other youngins who will prolly make their debuts in sept are Amon and jordan

in the sept friendies....I hope to see our best 11. Jordan(reims) could be a good player for us. He is gonna play in Ligue one next season. Hope to see saeif , jordan?, brooks and pulisic playing altogether. Keaton, saeif , jordan and pulisic will help out our offense. I am not even worry abt the offensive side cuz we do have some decent offensive players .

......................jordan

saeif.......keaton......adams....pulisic

.................mckennie

robinson.....brooks....miazga.....yedlin

...................steffen

my starting 11 for the 2019 gold cup..we will see!

Good read. I knew Steffen was gonna be our #1 keeper. Hes the best keeper that we have. Horvath and Steffen may have to battle it out tho if horvath gets his shit together at Fc brugge.

Mckennie will be the starting DM for shalke. They know how to produce quality players so mckennie is gonna be a good player with more seasoning and training... adams too -when he moves to germany this yr. Both are only 19 yrs old!

Keaton is gonna get a lot of mins at benfica next season. He is a true #8. He could be an important player for the US cuz he can really pass the rock.

Miazga, vickers, palmer and brooks. Ya, we dont have to worry abt the centerbacks pos for a while.

Robinson is def the starting LB now. I mean, who else can it be? Yedlin is ok for now cuz hes got experience.

Jordan could be a good player for us.He will play in france ligue one next season...if he is does well there, its gonne be good for us if he plays for us!

sargent is gonna get a lot of pro mins at werder bremen next season so thats good. he is only 18!

saeif, pulisic, steffen, brooks, miazga, yedlin, mckennie or adams are starters. Jordan, palmer, sargent, weah, nagbe, trapp, delgado, keaton are looking in! Palmer may be our best centerback but hes got brooks and miazga ahead of him!

STEFFEN MAKES A BIG STATEMENT

For several years it has always seemed as if Zack Steffen had the talent to be a very good No. 1 goalkeeper for the U.S. national team. But the past year he has clearly turned the corner.

The University of Maryland product was a standout for Columbus last year in the playoffs. In May of this year, he was the MLS player of the month for May after he did not concede a goal the entire month and still has a league shutout streak of over 500 minutes. Now he was the Man of the Match in a draw against France.

In the game, Steffen made several big saves in the second half including a free kick against Nabil Fekir and a stoppage time combination on Fekir from distance and close range from Ousmane Dembele.

Steffen is the deserved No. 1 heading into the next cycle and he is an option American fans should be feeling very good about that prospect.

A lot of the players who played well against France were known. Steffen, Weston McKennie, and likely Tyler Adams are starters for this team. But which players improved their stock the most?

Offensively, both have a big upside but both still have a ways to go. It is sometimes easy to forget that they are both teenagers.

Both McKennie and Adams can hit dangerous passes that can create a scoring opportunity. Overtime, their passing range will need to improve and mistakes on the ball will need to become minimalized.

This game was a good learning experience. Both players played well but have a ways to go if they want to be a pairing that can take the game to top oppositions.

Antonee Robinson was clearly in this category. After a season where he played over 2500 minutes for Bolton, the English-born Robinson is an exciting new player for the U.S team. He provides speed and competence both defensively and offensively.

A good read...Robinson is a definite option moving forward. I think we really need Keaton Parker to come good and/or Carletons progress to accelerate, besides pulisic, we are still missing a creative engine in the middle. Adams and Mckennie have the makings of something decent in the middle, but they r DMs right now.. Weah and Sargent are promising, looking forward to their club play this fall.

Will hyndman play more games at bourenmouth next season? he may still be a good player for us! who knows!

Jordan and amon are next in line to get call ups if jordan chooses the US which is a pretty good bet now. Who will be the US next coach? it may be berhalter or mexicos current head coach or may be it is zidane? jk abt ZZ!

Next generation has shown the U.S. should trust in youth

Next generation has shown the U.S. should trust in youth

For the first time in a while -- eight months, at least -- the future looks brighter for the U.S. men's national team. For that reason, the service given by the old guard should remain exactly where it is: in the past. Now is the time for the next generation, several of whom wrestled France's stars to a creditable 1-1 draw in Lyon on Saturday.

They have not yet been burdened by the emotional strain of life in the USMNT fishbowl, where a draw against Honduras is used as a bludgeon on social media. As such, there is a blank canvas for the next manager beyond caretaker Dave Sarachan, who deserves credit for leaning on the kids in 2018, to imprint. They're young, eager, hungry and malleable. Let them fly free.

the starting 11?
.......................................Weah(PSG), sargent(werder bremen), jordan(rennes)

................saeif(anderlecht)................Pulisic(dortmund).............Amon(fc Nordsjaelland)

...............................Mckennie(shalke).........Keaton(benfica), admas(MLS)

Robinson(wigan)......brooks(wolfburg).....Miazga(nantes)....yedlin(newcastle)

...................................................Steffen

Sargent, weah, jordan(if he plays for the US, rennes), Nova(holland) and wood(he could have a good yr) will be fighting for the striker spot. theres gonna be a lot of competition here. Sargent and jordan are prolly da top dogs here...weah can play anywhere up top. Nova could quietly sneak in!

Amon is an explosive winger. he plays for a good euro club and is getting hyped up. If he continues to do well...he could be starting for the US soon. Tho, he may have to to fend off weah and saeif for a winger spot.

a lot competition is gonna happen...fossey could oust yedlin. Palmer could replace brooks(who is always injured) or even miazga!

Keaton can be a star if he does well at benfica! hyndman ,holmes(derby county), luca del torre could be in the pic! Its not gonne be easy to be in this starting 11!

.........................Steffen

Yedlin is out.....gall, sabbi and amon will prolly get call ups. chandler could get a call up cuz yedlin is out. I want to see sabbi and Amon. Adams is def a DM. He can close spaces like a boss..watchout for adams he can be a very good DM. Mckennie can be a good 2 way player....Keaton needs to get pro mins at benfica if he wishes to join da team! I would like to see hyndman tho . he is a technical player and is getting pro mins!

I would to like see brooks and miazga together! finally! steffens pos is his to lose. Saeif is still injured so sabbi or amon could steal his spot, man....I am hoping Jordan will get a call up(US feds are talking to him)..so wait n see!

Introducing the AB (Anybody But) MLS USMNT 23-Man Player Pool

Now there is unprecedented momentum behind Americans, especially USYNT players, heading to Europe, so now there are many more USMNT supporters in our optimistic, Euro-centric view of the future. In the meantime, there is an inquisition within MLS around young Americans' lack of playing time, uncompensated Academy defections, inflated attendance totals, etc.

its a big yr for tillman. Hes been hyped up in germany so we will see if he does have a breakout yr. Do the states need dual citizens to help them be a good team? HELL NO! lol, not anymore. Is he better than New yorker gio reyna(dortmund bound)?? maybe not...but If he does play well in the bundesliga and opts to play for the US!! all good tho  :D

Ahead of Nurnberg opener, an international decision looms for Tillman
Timothy Tillman has been a prominent prospect in Germany for years but as the talented German-American teenager gets ready for his first Bundesliga season with Nurnberg an decision on his international future awaits.
