Sorry but I had to make a single thread for this incredible new:
'Extraordinary' Baggio Eyeing World Cup Spot
04/09/2002. Brescia forward Roberto Baggio is on the verge of an astonishing recovery from injury and according to his president, could even take to the field in this Sunday's match at Inter.
The Italy star damaged knee ligaments in an Italian Cup game against Parma in January and doctors predicted that he would be out for the rest of the season.
However, Brescia club president Gino Corioni has now said that Baggio is almost ready to return and still harbors dreams of making Giovanni Trapattoni's World Cup squad.
"Baggio wants to play against Inter on Sunday or at least make the bench," he told the Corriere dello Sport.
"Just two and a half months ago he had an operation on his cruciate knee ligaments and usually it would take six to eight months to return. He is well, though, and it is extraordinary.
"In the final or the penultimate game, Baggio will be on the field and will be in the thoughts of Trapattoni."
