April 30 results:

Group 1
Germany 1-0 Denmark
Czech Republic 0-6 Sweden
Group winner Germany advances to final 8

Bad luck for Sweden, who demolished their opponents by a total of 31-1 in the first group round, to get put into Germany's group for the second round. Now Germany will go on, while Sweden will not.

Group 2
Norway 0-2 England
Italy 5-0 Moldova
Group winner England advances to the final 8

Norway beat Italy, Italy beat England and England beat Norway; everyone beat Moldova. So there was a three-way tie for first place on 6 points, but the first tiebreaker is the total goal difference in the matches, excluding those involving fourth-place Moldova. England had 3-2; Norway 3-3; and Italy 3-4. Overall, including the Moldova matches, Norway actually had the best goal difference and most goals scored. Norway, who along with Germany had a bye into this round, had to have been the favourites to win this group.

Group 4
Russia 3-1 Austria
Romania 3-0 Serbia & Montenegro
Group winner Russia advances to final 8

Group 6
Switzerland 3-2 Ukraine
Poland 3-1 Northern Ireland
Group winner Switzerland advances to final 8

Group 7
France 1-0 Irish Republic
Spain 4-0 Croatia
Group winner France advances to final 8

Last year's champions Spain bow out.

Thanks for all of these updates. Very disappointing results for the Norwegian women against the Brits during this past week.

First of all Hege Riise's U-19 squad gets eliminated when a 1-0 loss would have been good enough to have advanced to the final 8. :sob:
On May 4th Norway's U-21 squad was soundly defeated by England 5-1 :eekani: and then yesterday Norway's A team lost for the first time ever to England 1-0. :frownani:
