Not surprising considering where we are as a country - especially for the last 8 years. Became officially the poorest nation in Europe. In terms of corruption I am not even going to waste time. We have a spineless slime of a president that besides destroying this country economically & morally - he wants to do the same to our sport by appointing his own former bodyguard Slavisa Kokeza as FA president. The same FA president that decided to remove certain players from the NT just because they had the audacity to point out his corruption & cluelessness.

The only "coaches" that would accept to work under those conditions are the likes of Tumbakovic, Pizon, Curcic, Krstajic etc. Scotland read through us with high pressure from the first minute. They knew we don't have the know-how to quickly pass the ball forward or have players that can dribble out of it. From the very first minute we f*cking parked the bus with all 11 players behind the centerline in middle of Belgrade against Scotland. We don't deserve to qualify for anything else, let alone this Euro. At least we won't get embarrassed again in front of millions.

Taking in count massive depopulation & smaller talent pool to choose from - we can expect in upcoming years to qualify once in a decade for a major tournament - if that. We have not qualified for two consecutive tournaments in over 20 years. Either we should ban football all-together in Serbia and focus the money/infrastructure on sports we are actually good at or send young coaches to Western Europe or S. America and learn from them how to pass & move the ball quickly out of tight/pressure situations. Also learn how to create proper midfield players that can stop, look around, control the ball and dribble with some creativity. Without that there is no hope, even if we had multiple prime Vidic's or Ivanovic's in same lineup.

Jednostavno, pozitivno nismo napravili, a protivnik jeste.

2) defanzivac daje drugom defanzivcu

3) drugi defanzivac daje zadnjem veznom

4) zadnji vezni gleda u pravcu srednjeg reda, širi ruke i onda vraća defanzivcu, ovaj vraća golmanu

5) Idi nazad na broj 1.

Another year, another deception.

Weather played a role, that horrible heavy pitch was terrible for players like Tadic and SMS and I felt like we really missed Djuricic last night. IMO our best player these last games. But in the end we only have ourselves to blame. As Ljuba said, the Scots put us under pressure and we simply froze for about an hour. The formation switch should have come much sooner. The 3-4-3 usually gives us space out on the wings, but Scotland played a 3-5-2 themselves and marked each player out of the game. Playing Gudelj, our best centre mid right now (who'd have thought some years ago) at CB was another big mistake. The guy is the only one who can keep the ball and dribble out of certain situations. Just play Spajic at the back and let Gudelj remain in his natural position.

This always happens though, we get that false hope and have it taken away in the most cruel way. The problem is that we've lacked organization for so long, that we can't just get it back with a couple of games. Tumba is an average coach for European standards, but even so, much better than most of what we've seen sadly. I'd still sack him, but only if you can get someone like Milojevic. He plays ugly football, I know. But we have to give up this notion that we can play attractive football and win. It's only going to happen incidentally and it happened because Norway, for all their talk, were totally unprepared against us.

I really don't even want to think about the future of this team, cause right now it's pointless. Just tired of this loser mentality, that we only seem to have in football and handball. Like Ljuba said, have our coaches go and learn from the best. I'd personally send them to Germany, which is the mecca of coaching right now. They went through a radical change in mentality, coaching and their entire football philosophy, early this century and look at what it has brought them. Obviously we don't have the manpower, resources, infrastructure etc, to be as successful as they are, but you need to have a system in place that can at least get you at 3 out of 4 major tournaments with the talent levels we have.

Anyway, good to see some of you still around. Hope you're all doing well. I am anyway, just shy of 2 months before my first child is born, so very happy about that. :)

Hi my friends again after a very long absence I really missed all of you so much :)

I really do not know what to say after another failure and disappointed result but I will say it in brief:
1. The current national team has very bad defenders and average goalkeepers and calling Milenkovic the new Vidic is one biggest lies that I have heard.
2. Gacinovic, Kostic, Maksimovic must not be called for the NT again, I do not know when the fans will recognize that they are weak players with limited abilities and can not add anything to the team.
3. Mitrovic must be benched to give the opportunity to either of Lukic or Vlahovic.
4. This team lacks a RB and an AM.

That was a painful and disappointing loss, even by our standards. I could imagine a scenario where Scotland defended well, took advantage of one of their rare opportunities and held on after we failed to convert our chances, but I couldn't imagine we would be completely outplayed at home - as was the case in the first 90 minutes. Speaking of which, when did we become so poor at home (e.g., the performance against Hungary in the last home match, the difference between our performance at home vs away against Turkey or Portugal in the last qualifying campaign)?

I agree with Ljuba and Krle. Until we make massive, structural changes to our football, starting with FSS and the culture/mentality that has plagued our football, the same story will repeat itself. There's nothing else to say as a Serbian football supporter really.

Anyway, good to see some of you still around. Hope you're all doing well. I am anyway, just shy of 2 months before my first child is born, so very happy about that. :)
Congrats Krle (y) Some things in life are much more important than football! Wishing you, the new born, and family all the best :)

I really admire your dedication Mohammed (y) It's hard enough to support the team as a Serb, but to see you still around all these years, after so many disappointments is truly commendable :)

Grats @Krle !

As for your NT, you can always find some consolation in the eternal misery of your neighbors from the East 😤

Don’t want to troll in your thread; will just say that I am expecting you guys to do very well in Qatar ‘22. You’ve got the players for that. I would only appoint an overperforming manager [suggestion: THIS MAN.

Hey guys..a serb football fan from India here...just my two cents...
You guys need modern fast paced footballers. Too many slow guys both at the back and front. Both the Mitrovics were appalling. Hardly any pressing from the front 3. Scotland outworked you guys...shame really. Would have liked to see you guys at the Euros

Thanks a lot guys, all of you. :) And I am Zikz, steady 9 hours per night with the new reality of working from home. :D

Back to football though. Last night's game was again far from great, but it did confirm some things for me.

  • As much as I love Tadic and Maksimovic, I do think we now have better players in their positions. Tadic has been on a steady decline for over a year now and even though his stats are still great for Ajax, he's no longer that guy who toyed with Real Madrid a while ago. Maksa is a fighter and a great kid, but in 2 man midfield you need more composure and better passing. I think Lukic and Grujic should compete for his spot, while Gudelj right now should be a clear starter, albeit in midfield. As for Tadic, I think SMS deserves his shot now.
  • SMS and Tadic can't play together. We were lacking pace, dribbling and penetration in that final third against Scotland. Radonjic and before him Djuricic showed that we need at least one player with a similar profile if we want to continue with this formation (which does suit our current roster and can offer a lot of positives).
  • I'd really like to see Andrija Zivkovic in this set-up. I think he can offer a lot and his form has been very promising recently.
  • Mitro's position shouldn't be undisputed, despite his fantastic record. Jovic and Vlahovic too, offer a different type of striker, and we should look at our opposition, form, etc. before we pick one. Also we shouldn't shy away from going from a 3-4-2-1 to a 3-4-1-2 when things aren't clicking with the former.
  • Gudelj is great right now, but he should never again play CB. Hungary's goal was just terrible defending from our boys.
  • The Dmitrovic-Rajkovic debate is far from settled IMO. Rajko seems to have edged it, but I just don't seem to feel as secure with him as I do with Dmitrovic.
  • Mladenovic was surprisingly good these games. His left foot has become something else, and we sure as hell need more weapons than we have now. Set pieces need to become an integral part of our game. Either way, Kostic (when healthy), Ristic, Mladenovic gives solid depth on the left.

Will be interesting to see what happens with regard to the coach. Tumba showed he doesn't care what people say by playing Gudelj at CB again.

Piksi being mentioned. He has the authority and presence, but how will the players respond to his critical nature? At least he doesn't shy away from expectation. I'm sure he would create a mindset of a winning mentality. Antic did and Miha towards the end of his reign was very close to it as well. In a more direct manner too.
