Our side of the draw is darn tough. I like it though. Makes winning so much more sweeter.

We've shown we can play with Spain, and they're not at their best currently. It's going to be a tough one. One thing I dont like is that we always concede a penalty against them. Every damn time.

Modric's warning to Spain: Playing like this, Croatia are a danger to anyone
Real Madrid man scored stunner for Croatia against Scotland

Luka Modric believes his Croatia side are a match for anyone as they head into the European Championship knockout stages.

Croatia will face Spain in the last 16 on Monday, June 28 in Copenhagen.

And after seeing off Scotland 3-1 in their final group game - which included a wonderful goal from Modric - their skipper highlighted their growing confidence.

"I'm very happy for the win and to have qualified," Modric said afterwards.

"My goal meant a lot to me. We didn't play well in our first two games, but when we play like this we're a danger to anyone."

After Zinedine Zidane's Champions League final goal in 2002, it was another strike to go down in Hampden Park folklore.

Roy Keane was one of the many observers to be taken aback by the 35-year-old's enduring excellence.

"It was a brilliant goal from a brilliant player," Keane said.

"How old is he, 35? I don't think I scored a goal like that in my entire career."

Modric also gave the most passes, assisted Ivan Perisic's third goal and has run the furthest of anyone for Croatia at Euro 2020, except Mateo Kovacic.

"He always leaves his heart on the pitch," said ex-Croatia international Robert Spehar.

"He was the man who got us that win. Playing like he does is incredible. There's no reason for him to retire from international duty - he could carry on for two or three more years."

The praise didn't stop there.

"He killed us in the middle of the park," said ex-Scotland forward Billy Dodds.

"He was by far the best player on the pitch," added Ally McCoist, another ex-Scotland international.

"He broke our hearts, but at least he did it in a wonderful way."

Modric's goal saw him become the first Croatian to score in three European Championships (2008, 2016 and 2020), as well as being the youngest and oldest player to score for his country.

"No one knows how, but Luka keeps going," said Croatia boss Zlatko Dalic.

"Everyone thinks he'll start to fade with his age, but he seems to be getting better. He never gets tired. No words can do justice to him."

The likes of Vedran Corluka, Danijel Subasic, Ivan Rakitic and Mario Mandzukic have all retired from Croatian international duty - but Modric is still there.

Watch out, Spain.

When I look at the draw, it's clearly intimidating. However, step by step. Spain are formidable but if the right Croatia shows up, victory is possible.

A fit Barisic instead of Gvardiol?
or Gvardiol for Lovren and Barišić at LB??

I'll definitely throw a few hundred down at +500. I might throw 100 down for all the underdogs and hope one wins. Wales at +400 vs Denmark, Austria at +700 vs Italy. Switzerland at +600 vs France. 😂

Barisic should be nowhere near the pitch on Monday. He will be scared to pass the halfway line in possession and God save us having him trying to defend the Spanish players in open space. His feet are made out of cement.

only thing I could think of is for dead balls and crosses to Ćaleta Car and tall players but Laporte and Torres are pretty tall... they do have some small outside backs though

This Spain isn't really good. Their team is young, inexperienced, and a bit shaky... Their 5-0 means absolutely nothing. The others two matches, they were simply bad (Ok we were also bad in our first two matches).

I wasn't really impressed at all by them.

I'm only afraid about their dives and referee decisions going against us than their football. In our team, most of our players knows how they're playing. Plus this Spain team has faced teams unable to make counter attacks only by 2 passes like we can do.

Trust me Spain isn't relax to play against us, because we can play in possession but also in counter with guys like Perisic, Rebic etc... Spain can play only one type of play, nothing more, and from their matches, I've seen a lot of spaces in their team when they're loosing the ball. Plus, they have 70/80% possession of the ball but unable to create chances.

We're clearly faster than them with and without the ball, I truly believe that we gonna win against them. AJMO!

We need Livakovic to step up.
He was below average in 3 games.
We can't expect our team to never grant scoring opportunities to opponents.
Without a Casillas doing miracles Spain wouldn't have won a single title.
Same about others... Neuer Buffon Lloris Rui Patricio..
To have a chance to win it all we need a gk that wins us the game when we have it tough.

Livakovic has proven that he is a wonderful GK on his line, but shaky in the air. I agree that if you want to win a tournament, you need a solid GK.

But we must to admit that the kid still a shy player, always at Dinamo. We must to remember that he's always playing at Dinamo and how his career is only beginning, he have the time front of him to develop well.

Livakovic have something like Lloris, very good on his line but not really good in the air and with his foots.

Take a look at at the match against Tottenham, Livakovic has saved our asses with wonderful saves front of wonderful players like Kane. The kid is really strong, but yes as I said, shaky in the air, with his foots and always a bit too shy front his opponents (which is normal due to his age and club situation, time will help him to change this in a better way).

In case you didn't know we will be wearing the black kits for this match... Spain's two shirts are Red and White so conflicts with our checkers even though we are the home team
