We really have more depth than in 2018 to me.
We have Kramaric Vlasic Brekalo Pasalic Ivanusec Juranovic as options for the second half.

I would have liked to see Juranovic starting though. Hope Vrsaljko will be ready for the physical aspect of the game.
Maybe more depth but we have no idea what our best line-up or system is and we've been in poor form for too long.

Lukita doesn't sound really confident about the tournament and reaching the k.o stages explaining that the group we got and having to start against England makes it very tough.
But at the same time there were days he sounded very confident (turkey 2008 Mexico 2014) and we suffered big losses.
Maybe it is better this way.

DD, don't worry about Luka's comments. He is playing along and showing respect for the opponents. English media and their fans expect to walk through our group and just like in Russia, when Ferdinand and other english pundits expected to steamroll us, including predictions of 3-0, etc...we then beat them and taught them a lesson.

Luka is better than anyone England has...he'll do his talking on the field.

We have a good record getting out of the group stage at the Euros, but I don't have a good feeling for us this tourney. Hope I'm wrong. We have the players to go far, I just think we're in a weird transition phase and we have a coach who seems keen on sticking with his WC players.

Great news for Gvardiol.
But i can't be optimistic knowing Vida Vrsaljko will play.
Even if they do 40 good minutes it is like you know already they will be implicated in a goal soon or later in the game.

Harry Kane about Croatia :

England took the lead in the 2018 World Cup semi-final through Kieran Trippier's free kick only to be pegged back within 90 minutes and picked off in extra time.

However, with three years' more experience running through the team and a much better array of individual talent available, Kane says England are a much better side going into Sunday's rematch at Wembley.

“Of course it’s a game that hurts,” Kane said. “It’s a game we wanted to win and we wanted to get to a World Cup Final, but in football, it doesn’t always pan out how you want.

“We just fell short in that moment.

“But now it’s a another game for us in a big tournament and Croatia are a great side.

“We’ll be focused on their team and trying to stop their threats and we’ll try to get on the ball and create chances.

“It’s the first game of a major tournament and that’s the most important thing is to look forward and just try to beat them on the day and get off to a good start.

“And we’re probably in a better place. Going into that World Cup, we maybe weren’t sure where we were as a team, but we performed really well and stepped up to the occasion.

“I feel like now we’ve had a bit more experience, players in the biggest games for their club and obviously players who have played in that World Cup have had that experience as well.”

“I remember my first tournament,” he said. “Euro 2016. I was so excited. In a way, I was almost too excited and, obviously, that tournament didn’t go as well as I wanted it to or the country wanted it to.

“The tournament environment is difficult. You are away from your family and friends for a long time and sometimes the hardest part is the stuff away from the games.

“But that’s part of the learning curve, so that’s down to not just me but other players in the group who have had experience, who have been leaders.

“There’s going to be moments when certain players are down on certain days and it’s just about picking each other up, talking to each other and keeping each other focused because, although it is a long time, it does go quick as well.”

On sportnet.hr they are saying that Dalic might use Rebic as cf against England.

We could have

Livakovic
Vrsaljko Vida Caleta Gvardiol
Modric Brozovic Kovacic
Brekalo or Vlasic Rebic Perisic

Really bad idea imo. Rebic is shit as a lone striker he needs someone to play off and create space.

He's shit as a striker but my guess is Dalic is looking for pressing, speed and a quick break...all things that Rebic can do and Petko/Krama really don't!
Ye that my guess is he will look for Rebic to press a lot which he can do. In Rebic second to last game at CF for Milan he scored a hat trick. Now Rebic can’t hold the ball up or win balls in the air. Need to use him to run the channels as he is strong and has speed. He’s pretty similar to olic who did this well for us. If you ask him to hold the ball up and win balls like mandzukic forget he can’t. Dalic needs to us Rebic the right way if he wants to play him at CF.

Our papers have been proposing line-up changes every day, all without Kramaric. Dalic himself appears to have left Kramaric out in the cold. It wouldn't surprise me at all if Kramaric ends up starting on Sunday and all this is an effort to sow confusion.

Mind you, Southgate himself is also sending mixed signals. Will it be three at the back or four. Does he start Henderson alongside Rice in a double pivot or does he opt for a more attack minded midfield with Rice, Mason Mount and Grealish?

Lots of questions on both sides.

That is the question. if he doesn't start him then i think our attack could struggle. As Burno Petkvovic is simply not a finisher of the likes of Mandzukic, Suker or even a Prso. He is more of mobile distributing CF who can score some goals, but not an out and out clincial striker. Looking at his last 3 seasons with Dinamo he has not scored more then 14 goals in a season(which was this past season in all competiions) with an assist rate on par with his goal scoring rate.
I do like what Dalic has tried doing with Kramaric, which might be the most nuanced tactic by a Hrvatski Izbornik in like forever.

To be fair Petkovic has a good goal scoring record with the NT. When he's on form he is a goal threat.

Mandzukic goal scoring record with the NT is inflated from the hatricks he scored against Kosovo and San Marino back in 2016 I think it was. On the other hand he is as good as it gets when it comes to big games. So many important goals came from Mandzukic.

Anyway I think Petkovic should start
