I admit, I have not watched much of Zenit to date, aside from their recent UEFA Cup work. Certainly this is not a side that can be overlooked by the Bavarians. A clean sheet is a must in this first leg. Giving up a road goal, to this side, will only add even more pressure for the return leg.

Yeah, I think the loss of Radek Sirl will really hurt Zenit, maybe even more than the loss of Arshavin.

However, Russia is not an easy place to play in, considering the hostile crowd and the terrible pitch condition at the Petrovsky.

I would agree with Bayern being 60-40 favourites, but Zenit will definitely not go down without a fight.

Don't be too hard on Klose, he is out of form but he still has 34 scorer points in 41 Bayern games...

wasn't the Klose I remember seeing, even from last season in the Champions League. and he was going against a pretty shaky defense today.

I am getting too old and fragile for these heart stopper away matches. I don't want to go through another Getafe-like match. Bayern seem to enjoy putting us through these kind of matches.

Klose has no confidence whatsoever and Poldi can't score when he should be scoring. That miss he had at the end of the match is unforgivable.

If our defense under Hitzfeld is like this, I wonder how it will be with Klinsman around. I can't stop worrying. As much as I love Lucio's heart and fight, he seems to always get us out of Europe in recent years. Do you all remember how he deflected those goals against us in both legs vs. chelsea three seasons ago? He is clumsy.

Toni's place upfront was evident today.

We also were HORRIBLE on the break. We had so many chances to break out and score goals and we failed in all of them. We really need a player who can run with the ball on the break and manage to pass the ball right or score. The ones we have right now are HORRIBLE. I don't remember seeing Klose shoot one ball on the goal tonight?

Anyway, Bayern have only themselves to blame for the result. Zenit are no pushovers and that was evident today. They are way better than Getafe from a tactical point of view. I was impressed.

My tip for the next leg is: 1:2 for Bayern. Toni scoring both goals.

Bayern just love to put us through this kind of things.

I bealive the only thing that went wrong today was that Toni was not there to score. I don't know what happened to Klose recently, but I agree with Frank, he has already done a lot of goals and things for Bayern this season.

Podolski is shit, he sucks big time and today was a clear signal of this.

I hope we can beat VfB and then Zenit and complete a good season overall. The extra-shit thing that happened today was seeing Kahn got injured. But well, hope he will be ready for next match in Russia.

Oh and by the way, there are days in which I miss Altintop a lot, when Schweinsteiger's shot's or passes don't work, for instance today at the second half of the game.

Zenit's campaign this year began with mystical mistake of Villareal's goalkeeper and came to the end (I hope!) with phenomenal own goal from Lusio.

Bayern played better than Zenit (except some minutes after the o.g.) and deserved the solid win.

The worst player of Bayern was Schwainstaiger. His coefficient of efficiency was zero. Lahm also played not at his level. Hitzfeld was right when substitute them both. Kahn had to ask for the change before the o.g, not after. It was obvious that he cricked the muscle of the leg.

Zenit played like Hetafe - the same tactics, the same level of players.

Well Bayern paid for missing their chances. I dont blame Lucio for the draw, its just that we miss too much upfront. We will get them done in the return game, we just play better under pressure and this is the 4th game we draw at home in the uefa cup!so nothing new!

Just adding something to this coment:

Poldi missing clear chances and not giving us the goal of victory that we deserved and needed so much... nothing new!

It is clear that Podolski, at this point, cannot be the main focus as a striker. He can create some chances and score when someone else is up front to draw interest (Luca Toni).

Miro Klose really needs to get his form back... He will, before this term is over. Guaranteed.

I dont get the logic behind Hitzfeld´s substitutions more and more often. Taking out Schweinsteiger is ok but then why bringing in Lell when it´s still 1:1 and you have Sosa and Schlaudraff sitting on the bench??? Did he miss the equalizer?

Hitzfeld is satisfied way earlier and easier than we are since months...

I don't understand his attitude at all - but I said it since weeks and I am not going to change him anymore
