[UEFA Cup Semifinals] FC Bayern München v. Zenit St. Petersburg

I admit, I have not watched much of Zenit to date, aside from their recent UEFA Cup work. Certainly this is not a side that can be overlooked by the Bavarians. A clean sheet is a must in this first leg. Giving up a road goal, to this side, will only add even more pressure for the return leg.

Great header by Lucio :pp.
Bayern look very shell shocked and even more leg tired.
Kahn comes off for Rensing. Not good.
As long as they don't shoot on goal it will be fine ;).
True, but a goal or two in Bayern's favor would be a help right now...
Lucio misses a gaping open goal on a nice pass from Ribery...
Bright side being, Zenit will lose 2 of its starters for the next match after yellows.
What the hell is wrong with Bayern's defence?
As usual one more lost point for Germany. I hate it.

I just don't understand. I just don't. Sometimes the defence looks excellent, others, horriffic. And it is clear at this point that without Luca Toni, Bayern are questionable to score more than one goal.

So now the goal is to go to Russia next week and press for an away goal or two, considering Bayern will surely give up one at least.

My apologies, I am normally not this down on the squad. Damn...
What a great job by Michel.

He suspended three zenit players for the second leg.

the fair result should be 2-1.....
Arshavin and Sirl are big losses for Zenit.

I think you guys will take the 2nd leg, but Zenit must have surprised you with their skill.

If anything, Bayern surprised Zenit with their idiocy in defence.

:howler:

With Toni back, I really wouldn't be shocked if Bayern won 3-0 in Russia.

you say 4-1 today.:pp

Bayern is a good side but not cl material....some players are just average.

Some, perhaps. There is a core there.

Personally, I like Bayern's chances in the CL next season with a tweak to the lineup here and there. But that is a subject for another thread.

Ribery,Toni who else to make the difference?
Klose and Podolski just haven't really found their footing in Munich. I'm not blaming them for the draw today, but there is no reason that Bayern shouldn't have scored at least 2 goals today with the amount of pressure they applied.

Zenit is too short, not a single subs today.....

Now five players out in the second leg,Bayern only one if so.....

I will say is 60-40 for Bayern now.....
