I think if we play a full strength team, we have a greta chnace to make the quarter-final, but of course that's very unlikely, so this tie coudl well be very close.

Are any Romanisti based in the UK going to the first game?

Boro are too unpredictable which is why I don't like facing them.

I'm follow Boro in the premier league as their goalkeeper used to play for my local team, but they are too erratic to be considered 'safe' if that makes any sense.

Good thing is their home support is nothing - no one shows up to European fixtures which should feel like a neutral away tie for Roma.

Yes but they will be nearly full v Roma for sure. Its a huge match for them while for Roma it is not. This is my only worry.

Many of their fans have admitted that they consider this game the most important game in the club recent history. :googly:

I am considering the travel but I will just be back from Amsterdam (and a trip to Rotterdam too) so the wallet is a bit tight.

Anyway I hope for the best here, nothing better than beating an english team but I think it will be tougher than we expect. Especially now without Totti for the 2 legs.

I´ve been at riverside and Olimpico before, and i must say that those english mens in M´boro arent making nearly as much effort in supporting the team as we are at Olimpico, i Predict something like, 1-1 at Riverside, and 2-0 for us at Olimpico.

Anyway the team for this match I want...

Curci; Bovo, Mexes, Kuffour, Cufre; Aquilani, Kharja; Alvarez, Tommasi, Mancini; Okaka

I want that team... resting our better players because we will need them now for the league. I would like to see Okaka given a chance even if this is a big occasion in some ways. I am also confident this team can gain a result especially if we include Taddei, Perrotta and Chivu on the bench for insurance.

i wouldn't count on the weather beeing such a big help for boro or in reverse working against roma.
our b team managed to win in the freezing cold of tromsö.
(not that i'm comparing boro anyhow in terms of quality to tromsö though. ;) )

but we definitly have to score 1 or better 2 away goals.

I'd say it's similar to the Tromsø-match, especially when it comes to the weather. Tromsø are far, far from good, but we weren't exactly fantastic back then either. Now we're a lot better and we meet a team that obviously is a lot better too. Should be interesting, but I can't see us losing it to be honest :)

I was thinking about going, but internet problems, my inability to find anyone who'll go with me(that will pay for themselves at least..), and general laziness have impeded my progress.

Well first I will have to find someone ;)

£24.00 for the match and about £50 quid for the train tickets :D I think if the train tickets were less I would go... also the fact that none of my mates want to go to blistering cold conditions in the North East. I guess next time Roma come to town (or near)... but for this one, I will be watching it on telly I guess unless I have a change of heart or mind.

Why are you letting this chance go? If I wasn't going to Rome to see the derby the very same day as we played Tromsø (which lies as far north of Bergen as Torino is south) I would have packed my mittens and travel north. Seriously guys, Roma aren't in the UK every week. This is the easiest way for you to watch Roma. :)

Roma duo miss ‘Boro trip Monday 6 March, 2006

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Roma will be without both goalkeeper Alexander Doni and Vincenzo Montella for this week’s UEFA Cup clash with Middlesbrough.

The shot-stopper, who usually sits on the bench in Europe, won’t travel to England at all after sustaining a shoulder problem.

The Brazilian picked up the injury during the 1-1 draw with Inter last night and underwent a series of tests at Villa Stuart on Monday.

The custodian, who has performed relatively well in his debut Italian campaign, is also a major doubt for the trip to Ascoli at the weekend.

Under-21 international goalkeeper Gianluca Curci will be handed the gloves against the Premiership outfit.

Meanwhile, Montella has been told to completely rest for the next 10 days after a recurrence of his back problem.

The veteran striker was set to feature against Inter before pulling out of the game just a few hours ahead of kick-off.

The former Sampdoria player was seen by a specialist in Monaco on Monday who will further examine the Italian in the middle of next week.
