Bah, this game is so meaningless that anyone can start it without fear of jinxing: up to 0-4 is ok.

fats or bogliaschino, you have to start the serie A game thread.

My lineup:

Castellazzi
Lucchini Gastaldello Bottinelli
Scarsevicius Dessena Sammarco Krsticic Ziegler
Marilungo Fornaroli

In the second half: Zingani, Mustacchio and Pondaco (they are all in the UEFA list)

Rest for Accardi, Franceschini, Pieri, Delvecchio, Padalino, Bonazzoli, Cassano and Bellucci.

btw toni wat does "scarse"mean in italian?as u call stankeviciuz dat
"Scarso" means not good/poor. I can't believe that some newspapers actually rated his performance vs Juventus decent. I can just appreciate the work rate, but he is very slow, as a consequence he can't defend properly, his crosses are never precise, his shots are just strong (God knows how he managed to score to Romania). He reminds me of players like Milanese, Pesaresi (both left footed contrarily to Stankevicius)... utter shite! Selling Maggio for 8 million euros was a bargain, but we have wasted a half of them for a player who is much slower than Maggio, will hardly score, crosses as bad, defends as bad....

Il Secolo are saying Mazzarri might put Stanke in defense to give Lucchini a well-deserved rest (by all accounts he's been our best player bar Palombo so far this year) and bring back Padalino on the right after his injury, at least initially. Sammarco should replace Palombo, with Bonanni ready to come in if the former doesn't perform too well in that new position.

Finally, it'll be Fornaroli-Bonazzoli up front, which probably doesn't help either player much, but at least gives them both a good run-out. I too wouldn't mind seeing Marilungo given a run-out, I think he'd make a more natural striker partner for either of them.

EDIT: Mazzarri has (oddly) just confirmed the formation, it'll be

Castellazzi
Stanke Gastaldello Bottinelli
Padalino Dessena Sammarco Delvecchio Ziegler
Fornaroli Bonazzoli

nice formation for this game. but, i wonder why to put stanke as CB. anyway it`s a good chance for players like padalino, fornaroli, ziegler and dessena.

even fornaroli + bona partnership would be a good idea, but they will need a great support from midfielders.

Mazzarri explained that this game is ideal for experiments. He needs to know whether Stankevicius is a reliable center back, cause we are always short of center backs.

weird, because we know sampdoria depend on 3 CB, so they should have some more options..
eh, the matter has been debated many times.

The roster of Sampdoria is poor. If we consider the players Mazzarri really trusts (so if we exclude Bonanni, Krsticic, Fiorillo, Mustacchio, Marilungo and the same Fornaroli) there are 2 goalies, 5 center backs, 5 center midfielder, 4 wingbacks and 3 forwards, so 19 players. Now we have Palombo and Campagnaro injured, so it means that we have just one substitute for the three center backs and one substitute for the three center midfielders. If one among them gets banned, is tired or maybe get heavily injured, we have no more substitutes and 1 game every 3 days.

who do you blame here?

then i can say that samp roster consists of only 19 players. it`s absolutely not enough list for a team has to play in 3 tough competitions to play in ucl, cup and uefa cup.. it looks pathetic!

We've discussed this a few times, and basically it's a mixture of the board trying to save money and the manager generally not trusting youngsters. My hope is that, with time, Fornaroli will be used more often, and similarly with Bonanni, making our squad more like 21-strong, which is fine.

In defense, Marotta gambled a bit by leaving only 5 players, and Campagnaro's injury has left us very thin on the ground. The situation here is a bit more cloudy because we have so many defenders off on loan, and it's not clear whether the decision is down to Marotta preferring them to play elsewhere than bench-warm with us, or Mazzarri just not rating them ready yet and wanting someone with more experience, which Marotta decided he didn't want to pay for.

They have started. It is good to see Castellazzi back in goal and Bellucci on the bench. I hope players like Ziegler, Fornaroli will try to prove Mazzarri they deserve for the starting eleven.

Forza Samp!
