Match Preview:

Alright, we're going to face the current leaders of the greek championship on thursday night in our beloved Ali Sami Yen. We have a very tough group and winning our home games is a must, so we can't make an exception against Olympiakos. Lincoln is going to miss the eskisehir match so it would be nice if he would compensate us with some quality football on thursday. of course this won't work if the rest of the team is bad. especially our defence is going to be very important. against guys like galetti or belluschi, our rather clumsy defenders should have a pretty hard time. i expect meira to start at dm together with ayhan, while emre asik and servet should be our center backs once more. balta and sabri as wing backs. i dont think that we should go out and play attacking football, maybe trying to control the game first would be the better option. we're bound to get goal scoring opportunities with the players we have, so we should really concentrate on not letting goals in. its going to be very very tough. all in all the team should be the same as in the trabzon match, making it look like this:

...........Baros.............

..........Lincoln............

Kewell..................Arda

......Ayhan....Meira.......

Balta..Servet..Emre..Sabri

..........De Sanctis

Hadi Hayirlisi....

I really hate to place too much importance on one match, but if we don't win here, it becomes extremely tricky to get out of the group. I hope we keep the same starting eleven that started against Trabzonspor. Meira-Ayhan in midfield really seemed to strenghthen our transition between attack and defense

It isn´t an easy match for GS. Valverde is a good coach and he reached the final with Espanyol. Olympiakos is lider in his league.
May be a draw would be a good result.
In any case GS can win if Baros or Lincoln score some goal.

Just little update:

Valverde is quite sure of his team, he says he will play attacking football and that he will play to beat Galatasaray. Galletti confirmed. They are missing few starters including Djordjevic, Dudu, Stoltidis. Still, I am pretty terrified, especially knowing how skillful Galletti, Diogo, Bellushi can be.

On the other hand, Skibbe respectively spoke about Olympiakos stating that they are very good team. Galatasaray will try to prove themselves in Europe with tomorrow's match. We are missing few starters as well, such as Mehmet Topal, Linderoth, Gungor, even Hasan Sas and Aydin. But still, our team has adequate cover.

Can some of our Greek friends write expected line ups and some tips on how Olympiakos plays?

Last I heard it was 2 weeks, but with our brilliant medical staff "2 weeks" can end up being 8 months, so who knows :proud:

I am not too optimistic about this game nor about the campaign, but there is some light after the line-up against Trabzon. Sabri-Servet-Emre A.-Hakan back line and Ayhan, Meira in DM can make sure they get the job done defensively.

A win would be great for sure.

our recent european record is awful. these games were usually a treat to watch, you could wait for weeks just to see our beloved galatasaray play in europe. now you dont even get excited, that really sucks. but on the other hand we need a turning point in europe and a big game like this can surely be it.

olympiacos are favourites tonight, thats the way we want it. hopefully they will play offensively, opens up the game for us. no ****ing early goals, concentration from the start. good luck to us all.

Olympiakos is very dangerous so you should be very careful in this one.
They have some great players in the likes of Belluschi, Diogo, Galletti, Kovacevic, Dudu, Antzas and Torosidis. They are missing their defensive midfielders which is a big loss, considering how important they are in their game (especially when playing away). They also miss both of their left backs (Raul Bravo and Leonardo) and their captain Djorgevic. Galletti is in phenomenal form right now, so you better be extra careful from his side, as he can create chances and score from nothing. Diogo is a constant threat as he is fast and can score with every possible way. You should also watch for Kovacevic, despite his age, he is a Solskjaer type of player for Olympiakos this year, he scores almost every time he comes from the bench.

With so many players missing it’s a quite difficult to forecast their starting line up. But I guess they are going to play something like this:

----------------------------Diogo
--Leto------------------Belluschi---------------Galletti
-------------------Antzas-----Patsatzoglou
Domi----------------------------------------------Torosidis
---------------Zewlakow--------Papadopoulos
------------------------Nikopolidis

Antzas is central defender who can also play as a defensive midfielder, so considering their missing their DMs, there’s a good chance Valverde will use him in the midfield and put Michael Zewlakow in the back.

You should watch your back and don’t try anything full attacking mind. Best of luck to you guys in this one, both sides are pretty close quality wise.

FYI Avraam Papadopoulos has been very mistake prone this year so a goal may come off one of his ****ups.
