If the CL gets its thread, the UEFA Cup also deserves one. We're in the final qualifying round after all.

My own team Rosenborg more or less embarrassed itself. Against Djurgardens, who have not won any important game in months, we managed to lose 2-1. Typically Rosenborg this season: inconsistency is the magic word ; some games we freewheel over the opposition and could be a threat to even the great clubs, the next game those same players are playing weak enough to be beaten by a 3rd division team. Unbelievable how those players can play top football one week and suddenly crash and burn the next week. OK, not trying to dramatise but losing against a team that had not won any important game for a long time, is not boosting confidence.

One upside: we have the vital away goal and a 2-1 deficit should be overcome at home in Norway. Hopefully the players realise the importance of this game, we need the UEFA Cup group stages to give some spice to our colourless season.

Biggest upset in the qualifiers IMO: Man City losing at home to Midtjylland from Denmark. 0-1 for the Danes. I still think City is capable of winning in Denmark, this tie is far from decided. But this will be a huge test for them, with a lot of pressure.

Minor upset: AEK Athens lost to Apoel Nicosia 0-1. Another Cypriot uppercut to a Greek team although here as well AEK still have the experience to turn this around in the second leg.

Remarkable as well: Grasshoppers, not long ago doing well in Europe, lost 6-0 against Lech Poznan in Poland.

Deportivo-Hajduk 0-0 should also be an extremely interesting return game in Croatia.

Hope we (Feyenoord) meet a very very very bad side in the first round. A Romanian or Czech midtable side would already be too good for us. Preferably something from Moldova or something

As for Spurs, should breeze through the first round and group stages. After that though...

An predictable first round exit or an undeserved Boro/Rangers run to the final for us methinks.

How come those two games were played so early? City play on Thursday.
All the other games are on Thursday but I guess these were rescheduled to avoid clashing with other games involving teams from these countries.

Deportivo-Hajduk 0-0 should also be an extremely interesting return game in Croatia.
i read in papers transcriptions from spanish papers. they claim hajduk have a good defense :howler:

our defense is just a disaster waiting to happen its only that deportivo is too crap to realize that and take advantage of it.
in an away game in la coruna where hajduk came and played a defensive game one needed to think about ways to break it and deportivo failed to come up with one, however split tables have turned cause now hajduk needs to open up and win if we are to progress, we'll need to push our defense upwards, pull away from the goal and attack. and, sadly, here the solution to beating us becomes too easy. our defense is slow and boris zivkovic is a master at ****ing up offside traps. what one needs to do is just sit back, invite us, allow us to attack and then hit us on counters. thats the recipe zagreb used to humiliate us 3-0 away.

another problem is that we have trouble scoring. we rely on nikola kalinic to get the goals and if he's not in the mood (which happens a lot in 2008) he'll need like 5 chances before he finally scores. problem is that kalinic is our only serious option for striker so if he doesn't have his day there's really no one else to put in.

two key men for us are our goalie danijel subasic who'll need to be on top form cause he sure as hell ain't gonna be getting too much help from the defense and nikola kalinic who'll need to score the chances he gets.

overall mm gives hajduk 20% chances to progress.

Bulgarian teams are terrible this year, tomorrow Levski will probably lose to BATE as well.
