Murata would be perfect opponent for 3rd round, not far distance, not the strongest neither. Let's see if they can beat Göteborg first :pp

BTW, Murata sports president wants to sign Michael Schumacher and Romario.
Aldair plays for them already.
Wow! I guess we better avoid this side then. Can you imagine Dainelli stopping Schumacher in his full speed?

Champions League Qualifying 1st Round 1st Leg

No surprises really. Actually Inter Baki not managing a goal at home against Rabotnicki is kind of a disappointment (seeing as how they're all practically senior internationals). Goteburg absolutely smashed Murata, the San Marenese team, 0-5. A devestating blow for those wishing to enter the Azzurri squad:D. I don't know what it says about Goteburg, but having Soder, Alexandersson, Wernblom, H. Jonsson and our young friend Stefan Selakovic get a goal each can't do bad for their morale or their team spirit.

Could they be the bannana skin of our tournament? Will they come back at us and surprise us in the third round? - and end our hopes of qualifying? or will they get knocked out by some other shit team?

Stay tuned to find out!

Now for our favourites:

1. Dinamo Zagreb; managed a comfortable enough win away to Linfield, lovely queit place in Belfast. Manzukic and Drpic with the goals.

2. Dinamo Tbilisi; The Georgian team went one better. A 3-0 at home against NSI (the mighty team from the Faroe Islands). Guram Kashia got one in the 7th minute before the game was over by half time. Gvelsiani and Odikadze adding the second and third, giving the insurance comp....erm...NSI absolutely no chance of qualification.

3. BATE; The Belarussian team will probably be ousted by the time we get into the third round, but this valiant effort to beat Reykjavik 2-0 is some achievement. Who knows with this lot...

4. Artmedia; The great team from Slovakia. I don't know how far they can get really. They left it till late against the Maltese lot of Valletta. Two goals from Cisovsky in the space of six minutes got them the away win they were looking for. The first coming in the 73rd minute.

The next legs are to be played on the 22nd and 23rd of July 2008. This is next Tuesday (and Wednesday) when we find out the 14 teams that will progress into the second round.

Champions League Qualifying 1st Round 2nd Leg

First off, I'm going to list the teams that got through; Inter Baki, Ventspils, Kaunas, Tampere Utd, BATE, Anorthsis, Domzale, Modrica, Artmedia, Goteborg, Dinamo Tbilisi, Sherriff, Drogaheda and Dinamo Zagreb.

Yes I know. Most of them are complete nobodies. But you gotta give it to them - they are through to the second stage and some of them impressed with vigour. :D Take Goteborg for example. They whitewashed (or bleached) Murata 4-0 giving a total of a 9-0 aggregate scoreline. Cypriot side Anorthosis are also through with a 2-0 second leg win and they have more good news as they have just signed Euro 2004 champion Traianos Dellas to strengthen their defence. It was nice of Inter Baki to turn up this time and manage an away goals win. Other than the fact that Ventspils came back from a goal down to smash Llanelli 4-0, there were not really any real surprises.

It is the next Round where it all gets so, so interesting.

Drogheda would be indeed good option :lala:
And in worst case one of two Prague clubs wouldn't be bad neither... :pp

Champions League Qualifying 2nd Round 1st Leg

We...he..he..he...hey!

The day has come. 'Continental powers to learn fate'. It is news, news everywhere. The draw for the final qualifying round is to be made today..and we're in it!

More on that later. Now though a quick round up of the weeks events. The match of the day; Goteborg v Basel is still a tentative fixture which hangs firmly in the balance of the universe. A 1-1 draw in Sweden saw the Swiss team walk away with a slender advantage - which to be honest should be enough to see them through. Basel it was who took the lead, Huggel scored in the 26 minute from a corner, before the Goths struck back 7 minutes later and dominated the match from then onwards. Nothing much to add except that we really need to look out for this one.

Now for the shock of the tornament so far, Beitar Jerusalem beat Wisla Krakov 2-1, yes they conceeded an away goal, but they still got what they wanted - a win. They are an up and coming side, filled with foreigners for good measure, but both the goals were scored by an Israeli, Aviram Baruchyan.

Rangers had a terrile 0-0 with Kaunas, Fenerbach swept past Budapest 2-0, Roberto Carlos getting on the score sheet. A&B smashed Modrica 5-0, five different goalscorers too!

...And BATE came back from behind to beat Anderlecht 2-1, away from home. This is probably an even bigger shock. Gillet, scored a nice goal on 66 minute, Anderlecht dropped their heads thinking they won the game and almost immediately, as BATE attacked, Wasilewski brought down BATE forward Nekhaychick (yes - neck high chick!). Wasilewski was sent off and BATE scored the penalty before the Neck High Chick scored two minutes before the end to screw 10 men Anderlecht. Panathinikos beat Dinamo Tiblisi 3-0 - these might be ones to avoid in the up coming draw.

I will try to bring them to you as they happen.

Haha :howler:

The only side I would prefer to avoid is Athletico. F*ck, I'm so much excited, let the damned draw start!!!

Firenze, do you know of any site that would provide "live commentary" of the draw minute by minute?

You can watch it live on Eurosport. Probably their website will also cover it, also possible live video coverage.
Thank you Niko, I will check it out
