Veron shows his colors...
However, despite reassurances from Lazio club doctor Andrea Campi that the Argentinian international only needs a week’s rest, Veron has voiced concerns that a return to action too soon may jeopardise his chances of making the trip to Japan and South Korea.
"I would rather miss one or two games than miss the World Cup," he said. "I don’t want to rush back or force anything because an error could leave me out of the World Cup."

I'm sorry Mr. Veron, hot shot. But this is ridiculous. A professional football player has two obligations: 1. his club team and 2. his national side.
Veron needs to take a look across the Manchester United locker room at Roy Keane, a man who's captaining both his national team and Man United, for an example of the kind of player he should be. Keane gives it all every game, whether he's wearing the red shirt of United or the green of Ireland.
A World Cup year is no excuse to go soft, man; you make that precious reputation of yours at the club level! Pay this team some respect, Veron!
But then again, this is nothing that I hadn't figured out already.
