The Nordic Cup is held every year in Scandinavia. Last year was Finland; this year it's Denmark's turn.
This tournament is the most prestigious competition in the world for the U-21 age group, since FIFA does not have a world championship at this level. It is comparable to the Algarve Cup (which is for senior national teams) in both importance and format.
The USA has won 5 of the last 6 years, including the last 4 in a row. Last year they defeated Germany 3-1 in the Gold Medal match.
As last year, Greece is playing with their full Women's National Team on a special invitation to the U-21 event in order to gain some international experience in preparation for the 2004 Olympics in Athens.
The tournament will wrap up on Sunday July 27 with the placement matches.
Norway and Denmark played to a 1-1 draw today before a crowd of 120 at Randers Stadium. In other matches the U.S. defeated Iceland 3-0, Greece had a 2-1 victory over Finland and Sweden blanked Germany 1-0.
